iPad "3" compared to the Prime

I am about to purchase a Prime.
What is this WIFI issue? This will be my first tablet. I do have an Android phone
Motorola Droid X.

i really do not have any issue with my prime. but for some there wifi signal strength is not very good. the minute they move away from the router the weaker the signal gets. for me however, i get pretty strong signal no matter where i'm at. i think the first batch of primes had this issue.

you might want to think about waiting though as the new transformer prime is set to be released later this year.:Asus Transformer Prime TF700T Overview & Specs - Laptops - CNET Reviews

The wifi issue is real, but is a relative thing:

1. If the device you previously had has weak wifi (example Acer A500), the Prime is actually a little better than the A500 (worst wifi tablet evah').

2. The wifi environment you normally use may be fairly strong

3. In support of item 2, you may have a kick a$$ router

For me, I owned an A500 and tried two out but the wifi was awful. My View, Thrive and iPad "3" have very good wifi. The Prime compared to those devices is weak. I had tried out a launch release and a more recent serial batch and same weak wifi- for the environment I use tablets in. The Prime is fine if you normally use in fairly strong wifi environments.

If you use your device in weak to medium, the results will not be so good. The irony is one simple change to the back panel fixes the reception issues.

as far as the wifi issue. i really don't see that much difference than the ipad3. the ipad3 usually only gets like 1 bar more than the prime i have. no huge difference and definetly not a deal breaker. and if you go an app called "foxfi" you can do wireless tether from your android phone without root:)

Cool you see no difference, but two Primes lost signal where the my View, Thrive, iPod, Razr and iPad 3 do not. Really wanted to love the Prime, but the wifi is critical. Still crossing fingers the revised panel Prime is true and not just confusion of the 300 and 700. The 300 is inferior in everything but wifi and the 700 is months down the road.

Prime and a plastic strip added back panel would be fine :)

That said, the prime is still not the worst. The bottom dweller is the Acer A500. I had two of those as well, since always hope the first was just a fluke.

Very simple solution to your woes. 3G dongle plugged into Zoom 3g portable router. I have yet to find ANY location in UK where I cannot connect - and much cheaper than rip-off 3G contracts.
