I got a black 64gb iPad "3" today and have been testing it out to see if I will keep it. Have used the Prime enough to say that besides the wifi that for me is too weak, everything else about it rocks (can care less about GPS on a tablet).
Today I compared the iPad 3 and Prime for an hour. Everybody already knows the Prime is a great tablet hurt to some degree for some by the gps & wifi, so will not get into that (beaten to death).
Quick summary is I wish that the iPad 3 had Android ICS on it, since the build, display and wifi range rock REAL hard. The resolution and color depth is so good, certain things look like they are really there, rather than images (almost a natural 3D effect). Ditto for text in a lot of web pages. If the 1080p ASUS tablet looks close to this- DANG!
Though I have an iPod 4, wanted to see what the hub-bub was about with the new iPad. Seems if you are an Apple fan, or do not mind all of the nutty constraints using the iPad, the device IMO rocks. None the less, prefer Android and even a super sexy display with no near equal is probably not enough to make me keep this. Will continue to test the iPad out, but seems the 1080p ASUS tablet releasing this summer will be the way to go.
My Thrive will just have to "make do" until summer, but seriously, the display on the new iPad is like a sexy Siren pulling a ship into the rocks with SS Android souls on it.
I will say though that once you get used to the new iPad's display, everything else- iPad 2, Prime, Thrive, Samsung, etc, seems weak. Comics and images on this thing alone are a religious experience.
