I'm going with an ipad2. I mostly use mine for education, electronic magazines, and Netflix. Xoom can not compeat in this area. With my $200 best buy credit I'll get a good deal. As for my iPad it goes to the kids.

Between my kids, wife and I we have 6 ios devices. I sold my ipad to buy xoom and have not been disappointed. I like my experience with Honeycomb so much I may sell my iphone 4 and go full on droid.
I have to say this " Xoom with Honeycomb the tablet for adults"
Ipad fantastic for my 8 year old though (Ipad with iOS the tablet for kiddies.)

With six iOS devices I'd say you've given more than enoug to jobs. As for me I only own 1 iOS product.
What do you think about current games available on android?
Personally I'm not a tablet gamer. There's a console for that.
If I'm asking about tablet gaming on android vs the iOS wouldnt the only reason for that be that I enjoy my games in my tablet?

I had the original iphone for two years. Switched to Droid and Verizon more than one year ago. I just sold my Ipad 1 16GB Wifi two weeks ago for $350. I'm probably going to get the Wifi Xoom or Toshiba tablet, because even though I liked how well the ipad worked in general, it is too plain. The OS is boring. I also missed Flash support. I also didn't like how I couldn't get home movies to play on the ipad without buying software to convert it to the special ipad format. I'm looking forward to widgets on my home screen, and how much better/flashier everything looks on HC. If after a trial period, I'm not happy with Honeycomb, I have no problem getting an Ipad2, but I doubt that will happen.

I don't think that will be the case for Sam's club members on wifi only Xooms.... Full refund for up to 90 days.
I've been having a fierce debate with myself over the choice between an ipad 2 and a Xoom for a few weeks now. Having owned an ipad before, I have a pretty good feel for how the new one will be.
Last night I bought a Xoom at Costco. They make you purchase a 1 month plan with Verizon when you buy the unit. This morning I called Verizon to cancel the plan and they did that, and also waived the activation fee. I can also confirm at Costco they give you a mail-in rebate for the activation.
After playing with the Xoom last night for a couple of hours and as I lay in bed I came to realize I just don't care much for it. I got quite a few force stops, and my enterprise email for work quit quite a few times when the server connection dropped. Obviously this stuff will smooth out soon, but I couldn't help thinking about my ipad when I got it - and how everything 'just worked.'
After playing around with it today for a few more hours I've decided that it's going back to Costco for a refund, and Apple will sell one more ipad 2 on Friday (hopefully). There are some things I really like about the Xoom. I hope Apple takes note of the great notification system, and allows for options with widgets at some point. Also, I really like the Xoom's color scheme. The black on black is way sexy.
As a quick note, who the heck decided the Xoom power cord connection was a great idea? Sure as hell that'll snap off easily if you bump it the wrong way.
I'm telling myself that next Aprilish Honeycomb (or a replacement) will be smooth as buttah and all the issues will be worked out. I'd give an Android tab another shot in a second when it's time to replace the ipad 2.

I have heard a bunch of people talk about how laggy the xoom is and just real buggy in general.

One of the guys is a real Android fan and even he said there is no way he would recommend a xoom right now because the software is not ready for prime time. Feels like its beta.
Hopefully Google will get the kinks worked out eventually, but I think they rushed it to market before iPad2 hit.

Wow! They crushed Honeycomb and the Xoom. IT will be interesting to see what happens in the next few months.
Every android "sync" discussion ends with, "just copy and paste".
Because copy/paste is a very basic function of every OS. There are myriads of options available for syncing media. Windows Media player will handle it by default.

For ios devices, you simply click a check box or create a multiple playlists in itunes, usually a few minutes after u plug your device into your computer the first time.
And, one can do that on Windows Media player or RhythmBox as well... Guess what? All synced.
That's most likely because you know many people with iPhones, which can't usually connect fast enough to do so. My wife (Complete non-technogeek) does so. She doesn't even keep pics on her phone. They go to PhotoBucket, and then moved to FB if she wants people to see it.
It's cheaper to share paid content associated with one ID across multiple devices. If multiple IDs is critical, simply log into your computer as another user.
You can log in as another user, and it still uses the one Apple ID. And, in addition to that paid content, it overwrites ring tones, notifications, and everything else on the phone/tablet.
So much for multiple iPads/iPhones and multiple users....

And, I can find several Apple support forum postings asking the very same questions. The difference is: With Apple there is only one way. With Android, there are many ways to skin the cat.

One thing I learn when making a purchase. Do your own research and test,what maybe for someone else might be different for you. Its funny in the video he think the xoom is so heavy but its the same weight as the ipad he own or less. I stop by bestbuy the other day and played with a xoom for a few minutes and it was very responsive .
The XOOM has a HORRENDOUS screen. The contrast and viewing angles are garbage. That, to me, is enough to not consider it.
Also, look at all the apps that don't work for the XOOM (yet?). The iPad 2 has better--and better looking--apps. No question.
I still like the XOOM and think it's great (I've played with it a lot) but it's just not as polished as it could be in some respects.
The FFC for instance is really mediocre. I do like Honeycomb.

Syncing does not compress music either. No matter which tool you are using. It can transcode it into a lossier format, but then you get crap music.
And, copy/paste only copy/pastes what you select. It doesn't have to copy ini, info, or db files.
If you want just media, one can use Windows Media Player. It does everything iTunes does.
So, choice is a user penalty now? Gotcha.
Hey, guess what? If someone is using a 10MP+ camera, most likely, they are NOT using an iPad to take those pictures (Or, any other connected device), and are fully capable of doing what they need with their pictures.
Please post here links to people asking how to sync "videos and music" to their ios device, preferably those that weren't created by you after this thread started.

Depends on who you ask. I'd say it does. Not to mention if you transcode from one lossy format to another, you get crazy-ass artifacting. Read: Sounds like garbage.
You know, Windows Media Player does that, right? Plug in your phone, mount the storage, and open Windows Media Player. If you use Linux, well, just Open RhythmBox. It does it all automagically.
There is a default: Using your phone's storage as a Media Storage, and managing through Windows Media Player (Or, your player of choice).
I can do that do, without a computer. I can take the SD card out of my camera, and put it into my G Tablet. And, now, I can show my pictures off, and even upload them to Photobucket (Or my webhost). And, I didn't need a computer to do it.

I dunno... MP3's work fine on my phone and tablet. I don't know about you, but all my music is either in MP3 or WAV.
All my movies (The few I want on a mobile device) would be in mpeg4. And, my phone can play mpeg4.
Hell, I think my phone and tablet will also play wma's... And I know Windows Media player will do it.
And, now you're faulting Android for someone not knowing a core component of their OS? Wow. Ok, I can see where this is going.
Choice is a user experience penalty for Android. And, if a person doesn't know how to use their computer, it's a user experience penalty for Android.

Viewing angles, lmao. And apps, are you kidding me, tons of apps work and work well. Doesn't have to be Xoom "optimized" to run great. That's a big difference between the pads apps, if they aren't "optimized" they run like crap.
