Root iPhone 5 or HTC Evo V?

I ended up returning the Evo V. I now have the reverb. I got it to extend the 30 day return policy haha. So far this phone is good. The ram makes the phone all buggy. I can't wait for virgin mobile to get a new high end phone!

yeah I should probably see what the difference is being speed wise on virgin prl's vs sprint prl's I'm kinda curious. The best speed ive ever got was 8.6 mb/s on full 4g bars

You're comparing a device that just came out to one that's already a year old (evo 3d). That's not really a fair comparison. The iPhone is going to have better specs in that regard.

If you are considering an upgrade, I'd compare some top of the line androids with the ip5. To me, the choice is clear as night/day. :)

Edit: just realized you're on virgin. Unfortunately the prepaid carriers usually don't have the best lineup for choices.

I'd wait and see if they get the new nexus

Honestly get whatever works for you. I love my EVO V, I know people say ugg 3D is ******* stupid, I'm the only one that loves it. I love burning my own 3d movies to my EVO. But any other phone including the iphone will always beat the subpar but acceptable video or pic quality of the EVO V. Anyways I love Google navigation so much and this is ultimately one of the greatest reasons why I go for android. I also like the 1.2ghz processor and the fact that I can plug in whatever microsd cards I feel like it. I don't like the shitty battery life, but I have bought some some anker extras and they come in really handy. Now the one thing I do enjoy about the ios platform is, gaming. I see games like kingdom rush and fieldrunners 2 and I'm sad they aren't on android. (Hopefully fieldruners 2 comes over) Other than that they are just phones. If it can browse the web fast and make calls and send/receive texts that's what matters most. This phone is like a year old and it's still holding ground, that's surprising. Oh yeah I also pay 35 bucks a month cuz that's the best deal that is the sweet spot for an overall value package.

I can't believe this is even a thread.

1) It's a rumor
2) The iPhone 5 is a top of the line phone and it's being compared to a year old phone that wasn't tops when it came out. Hardware wise it's not even anywhere close to a contest.
3) The differences between iOS and Android have been discussed to death for years

Actually when this phone was released, it and the Sensation were top of the line. Most sites gave the nod to the 3d because of the extra ram. And besides the camera this phone does match up quite well against most current phones unless you're talking benchmark scores. It plays back 1080p without hiccups, what more do we need a phone to do in real life?

Just out of curiosity does anyone know how jail breaking an iPhone compares to rooting an android? Can they flash custom kernels/roms or anything comparable?

From my understanding it allows you to install apps that hack/modify your iphone......... and most of the time its buggy stuff

EDIT: I have friends that try to make their iPhone look like Android :p

I can't imagine the modding community for apple products is very good. Anyone serious about modding would be using an Android anyway.

That and it makes me wonder why companies like Gameloft and Madfinger would develop games for apple first???? is it because someone willing to pay that much for an iPhone is more likely to buy more games then Android users?

Yes, apple is a "rich" persons status symbol, that's why they did it for them first, people with more money tend to have apple products,,,, apparently

That and all Apple products are running the same OS. They only have to code for IOS 6, unlike Android where many people are still using 2.2, 2.3, 4.0, 4.1, etc. Some have single cores, some have dual core, some have quad core. RAM ranges from 512MB - 2GB. There is so much diversity in Android that it really is hard to develop for universally.

It's incredible how much more money I make from iOS compared to android. Without going into specifics, my iOS apps pull in about 6 times more cash per month than my android apps.

People in android just don't seem to buy and people in iOS love to buy, that's why they go Apple.

Jailbreak basically = non rooted android phone.

With jailbreak you can install custom apps that Apple won't allow and that's about it.

No overclocking or custom roms or kernels or anything like that.

What kind of apps? It seems like there are alot of people who will just stick with the free version simply because its "free". But at the same time I think alot of android users will gladly upgrade to pro when it is a quality app. (Not saying your apps aren't quality:o) By the way do you offer a free version/pro version on android or apple?

My apps are more static, informative reference type apps. No free version for either platform, just paid.

I'm not saying you can't make money on android, you can. It's just easier to prey on the iSheep.
