I am resisting the urge to buy the next iPhone as I have had an Evo 4g since day 1. Although I am feeling like I am ready to move on from the Evo and upgrade to something better. When the iPhone 5 will be released what Android device(s) do you think will be equal or better? I have an iPad and a macbook and feel getting the iPhone will complete the whole cloud concept and just allow better syncing. Am I off base? I have a lot of issues now with my Evo and hardly any issues with the iPad. Any suggestions?

Samsung Galaxy SIII will probably be the contender and by the looks of the S series compared to the iPhones. Apple will probably be beaten, in spec wise at least

OP, as the iPhone 5 isn't out yet, I don't know how anyone can give you a square answer.
I went from the Evo 4G to the Evo 3D, and that will stand up and surpass my buddies' iP4s in battery life and flexibility.
No doubt there will be any number of Android choices that will outperform the iP5 in some areas, but not in others.

I'm not saying anything against buying an iPhone, but I can't understand having the urge to buy something that doesn't exist yet.
However I do agree that going for the next iPhone will likely make things easier for you.

I am pretty sure that the OP said that they have an Evo, is getting ready to replace it, and wanted opinions on the iPhone 5 vs upcoming Android phones with respect to his needs.
And I thought that my hint was enough for this to not become another soapbox for a hijacking by someone upset with the Android update cycle and variety.
The OP has owned Android for a while and those are not his issues or question.

There are many folks on here who own Apple computers and Android phones. I don't believe it makes it any more difficult. The EVO is by no means obsolete but I think the iPhone 5 and SGS3 will probably launch at similar times. Give them both a shot.

My suggestion?
Weight their pro's and con's and choose which most suits you...
Some people like Android because of it's flexibility, such as Rooting and installing costum ROMs, as well as more variety of devices to choose from
Big to small in size, cheap to expensive in budget....
Whereas Apple focuses on it's simplicity, targeting those who do not like to tinker around with their devices... albeit you can still JailBreak your iPhone if you want to, but all in all, iOS is just more hassle free IMO...
Bottom Line, choose which one do you like more, and enjoy your phone without regret
PS: There is no iPhone 5 yet, just the iPhone 4S, which, IMO, is a very small upgrade from the iPhone 4.....
Also, Mobile World Congress just passed, and there will be alot of new phones flooding through the next month or so... such as the HTC One series...

I personally like having both Android and iOS. I ave a Galaxy S2. There isn't anything that I have ever done where I wished I had an iPhone to sync something with my iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPod touch or Apple TV. So I am not too sure what the OP means.

All we can do is speculate on fictitious phones which don't exist yet. Will there be an iPhone 5 (or New iPhone to complement the new naming theme), yes, will there be an android phone to compete with it, yes there will be many android phones to compete with it. Since you are waiting for the next iPhone I would certainly wait until it's release and ask this question again.
I can completely understand getting bored with a piece of technology and wanting something new, it happens to most of us. I got bored with my Nexus One after a year and a half but my SGS2 renewed my excitement in hardware and it still impresses me. But I will say that Android has yet to bore me. Before switching to an iPhone I would certainly go play with some of the new hardware out there, might bring back your excitement.

Jailbreaking gets old after awhile... Yes it literally takes 2min to do and is way easier than android but I just came from the iphone4 and got bored quickly. BTW in my house we have 2 iphone4, 2 ipad2s, a mac mini and an apple tv... The whole sync thing is over rated

I own an iPhone 4, and I have recently got a Samsung galaxy Gio to see why people talk so much about Android. So far I think it is a better system as you can do some modifications that its not possible in iPhone. I think they both have their pros and cons, but I am beginning to like Android.

That's a tough choice, it really depends on what would work better for you. Each OS and device has it's pros and cons.
iPad - Great for playing games, and plenty of tablet optimized apps, but with this option you're basically stuck with a phone UI on a tablet.
Similar spec'd Android tablet - Tablet UI with plenty of added features. (Customization, widgets) Flash (Can be considered a negative by some, or a positive for many.) a smaller amount of apps optimized for tablets.
Either way you should be pretty happy, just weigh out the pros and cons to decide which one will work best for your needs.

I guess you are right chanchan, a better Android phone would have made me more interested in this system. Anyhow I can use this so far to get used to Android before I get my hands in a better Andriode phone, but first I need to get an iPad 3.
