Help iphone mms issues

Hi,
I'm a new owner of the Optimus F3 on Virgin Mobile's network. I've noticed I have a problem reading mms' from friends that send them to me via iphones (I haven't asked anyone without an iphone to try sending me one yet). I can download just fine (when I turn on the data -- either "data" or "wi-fi"), but I can't actually see anything -- I just see an empty text bubble (I've tested this with the stock app, Handcent, and GoSMS, and have the same exact problem). The weird thing is, in the text "preview" screen for the stock app (where you see a list of all conversations you have going), I am able to see a 3 or 4 word preview of the text, if it's the most recent one of the conversation (so, *something* is downloading, but is just not visible).

Has anyone run into similar issues with this/ have any ideas of a fix?

Thanks,
butsuriboy

Apple is notorious for their texts not playing well with anything but other Iphones. I ususlly don't have a problem but they sometimes come through with a picture / video icon with nothing attached which is kind of strange. I've also gotten the blank ones.

I had this issue on Lg Motion, my friend with iPhone could not get mms from or to him. Search around I think it should be a known issue. Now I'm on T-Mobile network and everything works fine on F3

Thanks to everyone for their replies!

@unnamedny, yeah, I googled before, and heard about people saying iphone didn't like to play nice (especially, possibly, with an iMessage app taking control?).

Anyways, I thought a possible workaround to our problem could be to access the raw data directly. Based on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452510
and
MD's Technical Sharing: Raw access to SMS/MMS database on Android phones

it looks like the mms' are saved in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db and are in an SQLite format. So, if we could access that file with an SQLite database viewer (such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xuecs.sqlitemanager&hl=en ), we could potentially see the raw contents of the mms?

This workaround, though, would only work for rooted devices, as you can't access that location (AFAIK) with an un-rooted phone. I don't have my phone rooted yet (haven't had the time, and I want to hold off till the manufacturer warranty expires), so I haven't been able to check myself yet, but am hopeful.

So, I guess my question is, can anyone with a rooted phone check to see if this method works (to see the contents of received mms' via the SQLite database viewing app)? If it *does* work, it would be nice to know that there is a workaround, for when I do root my phone (and might even push me to get rooted sooner :P), and if not, at least it was worth the try!

Thanks again!
PS, I *was* able to send myself an mms (with picture), and had another friend with an android send me a picture mms as well. Both such attempts were successful (as in, I received the picture, and could read the attached text just fine), so that was good :) I haven't tried to see if I could get an andoid group text mms out to test with yet (I'm not even sure how one would do such a thing, as the only "group texts" I've sent out on my phone are normal sms', sent to each person separately, with replies only coming to me). If I get around to checking that (if it's even possible), I'll post my experience here.
