Iphone not recommended for women

I'm a pocket carrier. I have a '13 Moto X and it fits perfectly, doesn't stick out of my back pocket and I can sit down with it in my front pocket (jeans). It has a 4.7" screen, I'd actually like something a tad bigger but then I'd run into pocket issues. I am not in the market for a new phone but if I were I'd be having pocket trouble I think.

my Note3 with case... fits my pockets fine. front and back.
but I am a 6ft guy.

I do see a lot of women with Note size phones. they even small Asian girls.

Ever since my first ever cell phone from over 15 years ago kept falling out of my pockets, I've been using belt pouches or belt clips ever since. I don't carry my phone when I exercise, though. My exercise is hockey. It's not a good idea to carry your phone on you when playing hockey.

5 8 guy here.

Used to carry a Nexus 7 in my pocket, and people thought I was crazy. Fits just fine...

The 6+ is basically the same size as a Note 4, but with a slightly smaller screen.

The article seems to be arguing that women's clothes have smaller pockets. Personally I see about as many women with Note-like devices as men. My theory is that since it's a 2-handed device anyway hand size may not be such an issue with these, but it doesn't seem that pocket size is such a factor either. Of course in my experience women's clothes are also less likely to have pockets at all, and in that case it doesn't matter what size the phone is if you are carrying it in a bag.

yeah.. I agree.. most women... have some purse/bag in tow.
and half the time... women don't even have pockets.

kind of a mute point.

the big thing is .. texting with one hand. very very hard.

on the NOTE3.. I can quickly with a finger swipe.. reduce the screen size to a 4.7 (or smaller).
so that texting with 1 hand is possible.

My note 3 got retired to house phone duty and I carry a Samsung Convoy 3 now. Had to, I only used my Note as a rather large mp3 player and phone, and it was already suffering damage from my job and glitching out. A more rugged flip phone does better on the job and gets better signal and battery life and it does all that my Note did that mattered.

The Note 4 launch was horrible. Not the 6 inch screen I hoped for, no new features, the same generation S Pen, same screen, same apps. Not worthy of an upgrade and a sign that Samsung ran out of ideas finally, even taking cues from iSheep (metal phone? No one heard of antennagate that plagued the iPhone 4? What is wrong with plastic anyway that they'd listen to childish isheep and change?)

Agreed on the Note 4. IMO it's a fine device that will work well, and I would definitely consider it if I were to buy a new phone, but it wouldn't be enough for me to upgrade from a Note 3 if I had one.

I just hope Samsung isn't going towards metal phones because a few bad review sites think plastic equates to cheap. Metal dents! If they move their phones to metal their tablets are sure to follow, and that means I'd have no alternatives to consider as replacements. The Nexus isn't supported consistently enough for me to reconsider those, and Windows tablets are not for me, and Apple with Jony Ive doing software looks worse with each generation so I suppose I will live with what I got now, even when they get way obsolete.

The iP4 issue was due to the antenna, incorporated into the band running around the handset, being easily obstructed by the hand holding the device.

Not exclusively, but the new Galaxy Alpha uses a metal frame to great effect. It's a good-looking handset... with no signal problems either.

Metal dents!
Glass shatters, plastic cracks/scratches... nothing is damage-proof. Although I know of an iP5 that survived a 200ft fall from the top of an electricity pylon unscathed thanks to a Griffin Survivor case!

I have yet to see an iPhone that hasn't got a shattered front on it. Or an extremely dented back. At least the rear cover of plastic Samsung phones is replaceable.

I saw the Note 4 this weekend and it seems to have the same antenna band as the iPhone 4 did gaps and all. Antennagate comes to android! It's surround is all metal with the trademark gaps in much the same places as with the iPhone 4. Disappointing to say the least, plus it really looks more like an iPhone 6 than a Samsung phone.

Maybe its just geographic location, but I've seen plenty 'o iPhones without cracked and shattered screens. I've seen plenty 'o others with plastic bodies and cracked screens (I did have to explain to someone that the back popping off of their Samsung may have been what saved their phone when it fell, though) across all brands.

Owners in your neck of the woods are obviously more careless than elsewhere, then. I see plenty of undamaged iPhones, even working as I do in the trade.

No, it has a metal edging in much the same way as the Note 3 has. The RF antenna is completely separate.

Actually it looks more like a Note 3 than an iPhone 6; it's virtually indistinguishable from its predecessor. I really think you're clutching at straws here. :)

Are people particularly careless in your town? Like every iPhone owner has had a mishap, and maybe don't have them in cases?

Myself I see a do see a fair number of cracked screens, a mix of Androids and various iPhones. See a lot of particularly tatty Samsungs though, often where the silver coloured metalization(paint?) has worn off exposing the raw plastic underneath. And the escutcheon is not user replaceable.

the note3 sides look metal.. but is plastic.

the Note4 sides is metal. but the antenna is NOT attached to it.
so that your hands do NOT touch the antenna.. so Steve Jobs can NOT say you are holding it wrong. you can hold the Note4 in any way you wish.
and the back is plastic so it has very little issue with signals passing through.
no antenna-gate here.

And they even left you a nice gap to play with!

The gap on the Note4...just heard about that.... I would not like that!!!!

but I remember the issue with the home button on the Note3..
I don't have any issue with it... it wiggles.. but I don't care.

You have to remember, most iPhones here are the 3GS or 4, and are often held by kids. Either a hand me down, but those and some handful of Galaxy S2 phones often have shattered fronts. The iPhone 4 tends to get cracked near the earpiece. My sister's had that happen, she replaced it with a Galaxy S4.

You place a Note 4 next to an iPhone 6. They look very close, especially the metal band design. The backs and screens are different but they do bear some similarities. The UI is different, the Note 4 has the new flat TouchWiz, but nothing new has been added, and no new S-Pen features and the screen is the same size. Samsung is clutching straws, they have simply ran out of things to add to their newest models. The Note 4, for some reason, never got the Ultra Power Saver mode either, which is disappointing.

LG seems to be the progressive one lately, and I've replaced my Note 3 with a G3.

I hope my local Best Buy gets the Nexus X in when it comes out. I want to be able to hold it and see if the 5.9" screen is workable. If so...I may sell my 4 and get it, even though the 4 still works great and is expected to get L.
