iphone or android?

If the iPhone does come to Verizon, will you keep your android or go with the iPhone?

I switched from an iPhone 3Gs to the Eris. The Android OS is so much more customizable, which is one of the reasons that I like it. The only thing I miss, is the ability to have data connectivity while on a phone call, but that is not the OS's fault, it is a CDMA shortcoming.

That being said, I don't miss all the dropped and failed calls on AT&T, versus Verizon's solid network.

Android will just keep getting better and better, because it is an open platform, compared to Apple's closed platform.

Look I really like Android as well.....but honestly the only reason I ever tried it, or had to try it, was because the Iphone was only offered on At&Crap.

That being said, I've enjoyed my time on Android, and think it has a lot of potential, but it needs to get more organized, and it needs to grow in the media and app department.

What everyone wants to do on this forum in particular is kind of lightly bash Apple, and make references to the current 3Gs and it's OS.

Problem is.....the phone offered on Verizon will be the Iphone HD. Apple will step up it's game tremendously! They will address many of the issues that a few complain about, and the hardware specs will be "Incredible"....(Get it). The 3Gs is essentially a 3 year old phone, and it is just now being slightly overtaken by a few Android phones.

So yes....I would at least consider the new Iphone HD, I would be stupid not too.....and knowing Verizon we might still be waiting for the Incredible and Nexus by the time it is released.....

Iphone 32 gb of app storage > 159 mb eris app storage.

repeating yourself in the same thread, on the same page, doesn't make anyone come over to your way of thinking in and of itself. just so you know.

plus, i thought you could save apps on the sd card?

Honestly I really wanted an Iphone and wehn the Androids came out I said to myself "well this is a good settlement if I can't get an Iphone" and now I don't see myself ever getting an Iphone.. I'm stickin to Android much more advanced OS IMO

thank you for your insight.

if there is a way, i would like to know.

Do you really need 32gb of app storage??

I have a ton of apps and I still have over 100mb of storage left

I think android developers do a good job of keeping most apps a reasonable size. Some for iPhone's are considerably larger, I believe.

I will probably stay with Android. Apple has to much control over everything in their market. And our market is growing everyday.
I love my Droid, and there ain't any way I would switch to the Iphone. I just don't like apple, never have, never will buy any apple merchandise. I don't like the way they do business.

Apple seems to be slipping lately. Android is already better and has more potential for the future than iPhone.

That would be opinion, not fact.

i dont know how you did that, but i had about 30 apps on mine and it was getting laggy and almost at full capacity. i LOVE the OS and would take it over apple's OS anyday, i just wish our phones had more capacity.

I'll keep my Eris.
I just don't understand the popularity of the iPhone? to me its just a look at me look at me thing. My picture of iPhone users: "then they slip the iphone and stock white earbuds into their Harley saddlebag, wearing a harley tee shirt, Harley Boots, Harley do-rag...then they get home and Park next tot he harley badged F150 and listen to their $600 Bose clock radio resting assured that they own the *best of everything!"

Whatever floats your boat I guess ;)

*If best means the most expensive, heavily marketed product.

I guess I slightly exaggerated but I have 78mb free phone storage and in my application bar there are 84 Programs (including settings etc..)

I think most the new phones coming out all have double the storage as we do. This really is an entry level android phone.

either way, it's a great phone and i love it. now that ive had it a while, ive deleted the apps i NEVER use and im not as app happy. i dont think ill get low memory on this thing anymore. and after my contract expires in about 2 years, i hope that we will have even better android phones on the market. this is my 1st real smart phone. well, i had the Omnia for about a week, but knew i hated it after 2 days.

The most expensive seems to be the Palm Pre Plus at $599 (of course you can probably get it for a penny and a pair of sox, but $599 is the un-discounted retail price at Verizon).

Pricing is weird, I've had marketing people tell me more than once that every once in a while something will come onto the market that sells better at a higher price than it would much lower when it first comes out.

I think the Apple folks toyed with that notion for a while a few years ago.

Harleys are great if you own a trailer to tow them to the dealer every so often.

Plus, I've noticed over many years that the Harley-Davidson motorcycle seems to appeal mostly to anal expressive types, male and female.

I stay away from them.

I voted I'd switch, but I'm plenty happy waiting until whenever using my Eris on 1.5.
I wanted an iPhone because of my iTouch and my MacBook - syncing the Touch is a breeze, but syncing the Eris and my calendars gives me fits....whatever event I add on the phone NEVER arrives in iCal or Google.
My Eris is a close to the iPhone as I could get, so I'll wait....and if a version lands on Verizon, and it's not an ugly dog of a phone, I'll happily wait the year and a half until I can upgrade.......
.....unless the Official OTA 2.1 really curls my toes....then, who knows....

Someone on here (I think) put it well. The iPhone is a smartphone for non-smartphone users. It is simple... dumbed down... like a toy phone almost.

Sure, Android probably does take a little more patience and knowledge, but the potential for what can be done is almost endless, the sky's the limit! And I love that. I feel smart knowing so much about this phone!

I have an iPod touch, and do not like the OS, which is close enough to being the same OS as the phone for me to know I don't want it

Very true, the Iphone is a very very easy to use Smartphone OS mainly because it's very restricted on what the user can control. So all in all for the average person the Iphone is honestly much better of a phone..

I just bought my Dad a new Itouch for his 51st bday a couple weeks ago, (he is not a techy person at all) and he was able to take it out of the box and basically have it completely figured out in a couple hours. When I was trying to sell him on getting an android phone he played with my phone for about 30minutes hated it and said it was too complicated . He really wants a Iphone since I got him the touch so he doesn't have to carry his Curve and Itouch around haha

Most likely i'll stay with android. There are things I like about both phones, but right now android has got apple on the ropes and android is ever evolving so If the choice between the 2 comes up it will be a toss up as to which offers more. Evolution or stability. You decide.

I'm not a fanboy of either android or apple, but if the Iphone comes to v-dub in the near future, I will probably jump ship depending on the terms and if I can get 3rd party insurance on it through state farm or something.

Don't get me wrong, I love android. HOWEVER, the apple OS is vastly smoother as well as after being jailbroken, it can do pretty much everything android can.

Another reason I will probably jump ship is I know I will get tired of android. I have the attention span of a flea when it comes to electronics and will eventually want something vastly different.

I had decided I wouldn't get an Iphone since I would have to get a 2 year contract in order to get subsidized pricing and I finally got on track with a 1 year contract which puts me eligible for an upgrade in november. But, now that v-dub is getting rid of 1 year contracts and going strictly 2 year, I may as well get something I can enjoy for awhile. Hell, I may even switch to at&t to get one if I can get my corporate discount. They have solid coverage in my area.

Cliff notes: Iphone

for one they didnt say that iphone was coming this year to Verizon that is still a maybe, there is only a rumor that the next iphone with be cdma which Sprint and Verizon network operate on, that is the only reason everyone think iphone is coming to Verizon, that has been no official annoucement when its coming, matter of fact rumor has it that iphone wont be coming to either network untill 2011, the cdma version thats coming out this year will be for over seas in china or some other country

forums live and breathe on rumor and hearsay. so why not get a poll/thread started based on rumor and hearsay?
