iPhone vs android.

You can video chat over 3g on iphone as long as you get something like Tango(free i believe? they have it for android too). And you can use maps for free too, just not as good as on Android.

I'd def push maps/navigation on android though. I use that a lot and its really accurate.

I really don't know why you would need video calling function, only if you want to have cyber relationships.

I thought I did, I have lots of games installed. Only games I had on my 3Gs that aren't as good for Android are pinball games, there are some really good ones for iOS. Otherwise, I don't see what people complain about when comparing Android to iOS gaming, I have all the games I want to play on it.

3D gaming is lacking on android. All iOS games run great, even on older units. 2d gaming is not the issue here. If you are into EMUs, they are also a lot smoother (generally speaking) on iOS. Seems you don't understand the complaints because you don't seem to play many graphically intensive games.

Or if you want to see your family half way across the globe, living in another country (as is my case). I find it funny how critical people are about these features they don't use. "I don't use this so I don't see why anyone else would" is a pretty bad mentality to have, IMO.

That's a good point. But I really do not know anyone near me who really do video calling via a phone.

This is fair. Better question: do you know anyone that has the ability to do so conveniently? Granted, I could be wrong, but I feel that if we are being given the option to use a feature like this on our phones, we might use them. It is hard to know just how many people use or would want to use this feature when the feature hasn't really gone mainstream yet.

Oh yeah, you're right. Also I've never tried phone 'video' calling so I really don't know.

Hey,

I thought the Iphone 4 had faster browsing? Mine seems to be pretty fast in comparison to my cousins HTC android. Then again, she probably has an older one.

iOS:

-Flawless control - the touchscreen is probably the best one i've even felt. It just feels delicious :).

Android:

-Feels like there's more to explore :)

Good luck!

and this thread has run its course I was hoping for a little better info but as expected its run off course :(

Just wondering, what more information you were looking for bud? Seems to me like you covered a good 90% of the differences in the original post and we added a few more things in there for you. Remember, a thread is there to be useful to the community and not the original poster (IMO anyway). We are discussing features (or the lack of) on these devices. Unfortunately, in many cases, and Android to iOS comparison falls short, simply because all (current gen) phones running iOS are the same while Android is all different (hey, that may be something to add too! - it may be a pro or con depending though)

Isn't cheaper options a moot point if they are considering an iphone to begin with? I mean if they are looking for just a general smartphone, its one thing to steer them towards android.. but, if they were already considering an iphone..

No. You can always buy the last gen model of the iphone for $99 (sometimes even less from various places such as radio shack). If you are looking for a "cheaper" android phone, you probably aren;t getting current gen hardware with it, which would be the case with getting "last year's" model of the iPhone.

For some reason, despite our superiority to Apple fanatics *cough, every simple question regarding the iPhone seems to veer everywhere.

The OP has requested this thread be closed as he could get at least a partial answer to his question, and given that there are a plethora of these, I see no reason to deny him.
