iPhones??

Linux is quite cryptic in its form of crashing, often dumping the user to a cryptic CLI full of gibberish like Kernel Panics which no normal average person can troubleshoot.

I don't think most normal people can troubleshoot hexadecimal Windows BSOD codes either. Oh it's crashed, press reset, and that's it.

When Mac OS X kernel panics and crashes, it doesn't even bother trying to give instant cryptic diagnostic info. It politely tells you to "You need to restart your computer..." in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese. It's then up to you if you can interpret and diagnose the problem from the logs.

I think these days though, even for Windows, real show stopping OS crashes are quite rare. And there's often an underlying reason why, either a bad driver or a genuine hardware problem. I had a Macbook Pro that started to repeatedly kernel panic and crash, it was actually overheating because the cooling had become choked with dust and dirt. .

It really depends on the user. I've tried ios before (mainly just itouch) but in my experience it sucks. Let me tell you why..

Finding out that your version of ios wont update, which happens a lot easier than you think, combined with everything only running on the latest ios blows.

On top of this you also have very little customization, which is pretty important to me. I grow bored of particular launchers, widgets (still non existent in ios) among other things.

Another thing is that I am a developer. I can actually develope the way I want to, right on my device. I program with scripts and other things. This sort of app could hurt ios as scripts can be posted in a third party store causing apple to lose money. So they don't put those apps up.

Now, ios isn't all that bad, depending on your android device, ios is smoother and quicker. But this is caused due in part to androids on going desire to continually innovate and partly due to ios' desire to not. By this I refer to the earlier mentioned widgets and launchers. Ios and apple also do make some good hardware for their devices, but no variety.

They certainly do have the apps. But thwy further perpetuate the stigma that mobile devices are only companion devices and for content consumption versus content creation. While they just don't want to lose money.

Too long didn't read:

Android is free, customizable, efficient versitile and just plain more fun.

Think one my friends has taken a disliking to iOS 7.

Share! Regret dead. My iPad! [Cry] [cry]. - Hands are too cheap broke four liters a ios7, Kaka Kaka ...... variety of fruits can be seen as another marketing tool for you ...... pressing mobile phone!

I'm sure that makes more sense in the original ..

:D

I have the iPhone 5 and I'm sick of it now, yes it does have bugs, does not have a back button you have to look for an ok or back or previous on the screen, that's annoying, battery is not lasting me a day with fairly average use, spelling is a real joke, much faster and more accurate on my last phone the HTC sensation xl, should have hung in to that one till the next android phone came out that I fancied, well I've learned me lesson and am planning to get back on android soon, will have to buy n sell in eBay now cos I have a year left on my contract lol.

I have used all mobile platforms - Blackberry, Android, Windows, iOS, Symbian, Series 40, etc.

To be very true Android has best features, you can't pen down all the options it provides us. Talking about Windows - I simply loves it because of neat and clean interface, and performance. On the other hand iOS is perfectly optimized for its hardware and has lot of options too.

Being unbiased - Which OS is better depends upon the usage and preference of user only.

:D:smokingsomb:how are those Android fragmentation numbers looking?
I'll check back in here after i get through setting up my Nike Fuel band

Well there have been efforts to make something free and non-proprietary that would work with Fuelband and Nike+. However both Nike Inc and Apple Inc take severe legal action and will sue anyone anyone who dare attempt such a thing. ....remember the CueCat?

Nike Inc even sued those making products so that you could use Nike+ with your Reeboks or Adidas or whatever. Want to use Nike+? Then you must buy our expensive Nike sneakers.

IMO it's usually better to use systems that are open rather than proprietary lock-ins. IMO Fuelband and Nike+ and their lock-in with Apple are basically the "Gillette" model, in that we'll give you a handle but you must buy our expensive blades in order to use it, and woe betide anyone who doesn't....see also inkjet printers and cartridges...It's known as freebie marketing. It certainly happens with cellphones and carrier contracts. We'll give you a "free" locked iPhone 5S provided you sign this stiff two year contract, but if you stop paying we'll blacklist it.

The Nike/Apple lock-in works both ways of course...

Try setting up your iPod Nano "fitness" for your New Balance(Steve Jobs favourite) or Adidas products? :D

Yeah, my dad is using a first gen iPad and first gen iPhone.....he doesn't have many apps. He has to check facebook in the browser.

You know, between the Gnex getting axed and the feature disparity between N5 and N4 Kitkat, looks like we've just taken a big step backwards.

What do you mean?

Things like the new Launcher and OK Google are Nexus 5 exclusives(can be had on the 4 if you have some know how though).

I've read a couple rumors at this point saying that the translucent nav/notification bars will not make it to the 4.

More to the point, in what way is it related to iPhones?

Trophynuts brought up the iPhone vs Android fragmentation argument.

Not all iPhones will get all of the iOS 7 features.

That's been true for previous revisions as well.

And like the N5/N4 the differences usually makes sense - hardware moves on, features come along.

Android fragmentation is the favorite red herring for the Apple campers and there's no great need to validate the myths.

I think Android has left out features also for older devices. i still can't make any sense as to why Google Now doesn't work in 4.0 or below, it's just a search app, even the iPhone 3GS works with it, so i know it has zero to do with hardware limits.
