Is a Droid a droid on every phone?

I know this question may seen strange but I'm wondering if a Droid is the same on a HTC as it is a lets say an Intercept? I have a B&N nook color and that runs the android OS but it seems much different than on my phone. So that is what had me ask.

your tab is probally running a honeycomb os..which is for tablets..andoid 3.0.x...android is the operating system..some people will call any phone running an android os a "droid"...motorola has sevral phones called the droid.. droid incrediable..bunch of other droid named phones which also run android operating systems..so in short the term droid could refer to the operating system the phone runs or in some cases the name of the phone..ie droid incrediable..which also runs an android operating system..hope this helps you out some

There are different versions of Android:
2.2 is Froyo
2.3 is Gingerbread
3.0 is Honeycomb << is for tablets only
4.0 is Ice Cream Sandwich

There were older versions but they are outdated.
