Is Android for me?

Because you're being nonsensical about it, that's why. We are talking about Google stealing your contact info. (which I believe is illegal, anyways). If they really wanted it that badly, and were going to break the law to get it regardless, do you think they would give two shits about whether or not you had "sync with Google servers" enabled? The answer is no.

how is wanting my private info to stay private and out of the hands of the most untrustworthy entity ever spawned being nonsensicle? im not even saying they would steal my contact info. i just dont need or want the service and want complete control over MY stuff and MY info. like i said, i would not care if i lost all my contacts anyways. i dont need or want to be synced with anybody elses stuff but mine. if i really cared about saving my precious info on my phone, i would just do it manually on MY computer. its a simple philosophy that i have, its called being INDEPENDANT. i dont need big daddy holding my hand. its more about being independant and in control than being private. privacy is just an added benefit and right that i would like to keep.

on a side note, the government has subpeonad google in attempt to acquire all search records. luckily google is refusing for now...

"Last fall, it was revealed that Yahoo had cooperated with authorities seeking the identity of a Chinese e-mail subscriber who had distributed a government warning about protests; he is now serving a 10-year prison term."

you may just be too immature to understand your reality?...

For those worried about "big brother" don't buy any smart phonne.

Plain and simple.

Personal privacy has been gone for years. Every time you make a purchase, go to the doctor or turn on a computer, someone knows. That's just the way life is now. You can't get away from it, unless you go hide in the mountains.

That being said, yes we should have the freedom of privacy. If anyone should know that its me. I have had friends die and I am permently, partial disabled fighting for that freedom. Times have changed and if you want to keep up, its something you have to deal with.

thanks for the pep talk. you obviously dont understand what i am trying to accomplish here. the OP already said he will end up getting a different OS. so as far as this thread goes its done. i am just wondering if anyone has found a way to bypass some of these pointless services from google that i dont need or want and that MAY take my privacy. that would just make my android adventure much more enjoyable. unless you have any answers to my questions or any further input that would be relevant to the OP's questions, then you dont post here
