Help Is anyone else stuck on 1x?

I've noticed over the last few days that I've been stuck on 1x. I've done a couple factory resets and cleaned the SIM card, and have done about every troubleshooting method I would use on a computer at work. I'm guessing it may be a dead SIM card, but I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues.

Yeah I had it earlier today. It seems once I go into a place where I don't have good service it goes to 1X and then when I get somewhere with good service it still can't seem to change back to 3/4G. Must be a glitch. I restarted and it worked fine again for me

Right, ive NEVER had that here where i dont even get 4g. Does it not let you use data at all?
I probably get diferent indictators here..... no logo, G, E, H and H+

Id ring the carrier.
Have u maybe been caught tethering?
Have you checked the status site for your carrier? Maybe a tower or server is out.
I usualy switch "mobile data" off/on to cure things like that

1X is the 2G network you fall back on when 3G is unavailable on a CDMA network. (technically it's still considered 3G, but anyway) Similar to EDGE on a GSM network. Even with 1X you should have some data access, just very slow. Definitely get with your carrier, could be a bad SIM like you said, or they might be able to do a data reset from their end. Did you try pulling the battery without turning the phone off?

I took my phone to the Verizon store today, and I told them all the troubleshooting I did, which is more than what they did, but they tried putting a new SIM card and it didn't work. I had to have them send me one and it should be here tomorrow -.-. I hope it's not going to be a refurbished one since this falls under the factory warranty.

Edit: extra details. I did about 5 battery pulls, 2 factory resets, tried toggling mobile data, changed between goal and lte/cdma, tried going to 3g only, tried using data in downtown Indianapolis while on my college campus and still nothing there, and when I took it in today they replaced the SIM and nothing worked, so they're guessing the antenna in the phone is bad.

And now for another update. I was literally messing around with my phone about 3 minutes ago and noticed a SIM toolkit process... I turned off my Wi-Fi, and made sure it said 1x, then I killed the SIM toolkit process... as soon as I killed the process I got my 4g back (within 3 seconds). So far it seems to be sticking (even after a restart), and I'll just be sending the replacement phone back when it comes in tomorrow. The odd part was that even after 2 factory resets at home and one in the store, I still didn't have data until I killed that process... I wonder what happened there.

Thanks for sharing that. You found that under Application Manager or where?

On the international s3, the symbol for 2g (gprs) is just a G.
Glad u sorted it OP.... bet it feels satisfying having done it yourself :)

This happens on Sprint's CDMA network all the time. The same thing happened with my old Evo. Their network is the most economical, and all the crappiest.

And it's back to not working again... This is fun. Seems like what happened was either a fluke, or the antenna is dead... Time to call Verizon again and see if they can send me a replacement.

I ended up returning the previous replacements because my data was working non stop for quite some time... That was a mistake >.< . Oh well, hopefully they'll send me another one.

Now I just need to decide if I want to send it into Samsung, or if it would be easier just to get a certified like new from Verizon... Any suggestions?
