Is Droid Worth it With Google Phone rumors swirling

Dude I posted like 4 different times, on 2 different forums, "no broken glass...it was shadows/reflections from window".


I whole heartedly agree with the 30 day trial, which I was in, which is why I'd like a GSM DROID . This from someone who knew nothing about it, was looking at other similar phones, and grew to like a lot about what the DROID had to offer...even with upcoming "faster" phones. Yes I'm going through DROID internet browsing withdrawl.

Two things there, 1. first I realized it, maybe I skimmed it and it didn't click, GOT IT NOW

What are you browsing on now to give droid withdrawls?

Sure "faster cpu" doesn't mean "faster/better experience", but time will tell I mean look at that one cpu before amd and intel really took off, it was a "586" clone with more clock speed, but it really sucked in the user experience. Crap, can't remember that name!

Not married to AT&T at all, in fact, I look forward to cutting my bill in half with the $39/mo for Voice + Data on TMo, with unlocked phone.

And this! If a city carrier is good with you for saving money, they are the perfect options! I wish I could use a city only carrier, maybe I should say "major city only carrier".

I travel a lot, and even in rural areas I get PHENOMENAL coverage with VERIZON 3G...... and by rural, I mean 10 minutes outside of town, even compared to ATT

But to each their own! What is working for me, flawlessly BTW, may not be for everyone!

Back to my Q while waiting for n900 to come out...still on the fence, but hard to turn down gift. Q is getting a steady 700-900kb DL, but its still way slower than Droid (half processor, quarter of the RAM), no WiFi, and half the screen. I bailed 15 days in on 30day...figured I'd check back after Dec. 11th to see if signal issues resolved. I could go back and give up TV Out, and some other things n900 has over DROID, just for the speedy interface, and great screen on DROID alone.

See, in this area, I would not be able to get more than 700K on ATT, even with different phones, and even after testing stock, then later trying the "hacks". Nothing more than 700K, more like 200-300K with HUGE latencies.

Made youtube worthless, browsing painful, and it gave me jock itch.

Switched to VZ for 1900-2200K all the time, and it shows in the user experience! It's fast it's reliable and even in remote areas, I have full streaming music when driving (ATT superfailed in this area).

But should the OP get a droid? As I said above!!! I've enjoyed this phone 100x more than an iphone or a modern winmo phone (even compared to TP2 on VZ, or a 6.5 on ATT).

If you keep waiting on the "next best thing", you will never get a phone. Once/if the snapdragon does come out, there will be other phone rumors on the horizon...probably a 1.2ghz processor or something. Bottom line, if you like the phone and it does what you want it to do in a timely manner then get it!

i agree with this. technology moves so fast that there is always something better just around the corner. i think the droid will stand the test of time better than most, as it is a significant leap in hardware and software from the 1.0/1.6 phones. but it too shall soon enough be overshadowed.

Couldn't agree more. The next 1-2 years will be a barrage of newer and better releases. I really wanted the Passion, so that I could get rid of the, useless to me, physical keyboard. But, I only have to wait a year and there will be something better than the Passion by then.

yeah i have to agree, i think it'll withstand very well for at least a 2 years it'll last well, the processor it has is very fast and i have a G1 currently and that has been out for more than a year already and its not outdated with all these phones out......yet lol.... but it will be come next year... so i see the droid lasting easily 2 years.

Do you guys think it'll get all the android updates too? like Flan, Granola, and so on?

Being a former Pre owner, one thing I learned is to NOT base your future buying decisions on future updates. I was repeatedly dissapointed with the crap updates that phone continued to come out with. It seems as though every update fixed 2 problems and created 3. If you like the phone NOW then get it, if you don't then stay away. Don't buy with the hopes an update will fix issues that you have with it.

There will always be phones and rumors of phone looming to dethrone your device of its glory and status as "the" gadget to own. Don`t be a shmuck, (of course your not this isn`t an apple forum) just get what is or is confirmed to be out soon.
