Help Is gingerbread out for SGS?

i installed about 3 hours ago in its seams better then the 2.3.2 version that was leaked last month will give a better update tomorrow

on 2.3.3 battery drained 45% overnight. on 2.2.1 it only used 2%. theres apparently a bug causing the excessive drain. going back to 2.2.1 until fixed.

Think i will wait for the kies release and let the kids on the xda forums be the guinea pigs for samsung and their "leaked" version lol

i've installed it and it seems to me that I9000XWJS8 (froyo 2.2.1) is much faster. i also run the quadrant benchmark and it scored 983 (2.3.3) only while 1350 (2.2.1).

Reading through the xda thread I think its clear that it is a beta. To many bugs to be a final release. Probably also indicates that the real final release is a little way off.

Just out of interest, does my phone need to be unlocked before I can flash it with the leaked Rom?

EDIT. So my phone is sim unlocked, I've just checked. Is it easy enough to return to official 2.2.1?

I am loving this ROM been over 6 hours. no probs :D

Flashed this ROM yesterday.. Well swype works.. but not able to tether and use the phone simultaneously.. I mean on JPY I could tether and use the phone as well but on this version am unable to do so, the moment I click on home button the tethering gets disconnected .. battery not sure .. Can anyone suggest how to get a workaround for tethering??

well charged my phone up so it was full and left it overnight and its about 20% left so not good. Will keep an eye on it and might go back to 2.2.1

Ok charged it and been using it a bit this afternoon for some txts and its nearl empty already. Oh well nice to try but I think I am going back to JS8 till that gets fixed. One thing I will say was it was very stable and had no lag that I could see. Wifi and 3G seemed fine as well though I didn't try the GPS.

the battery drain is supposed to be a bug with the wifi sleep policy. if set to sleep when screen is off it continues looking for a signal. according to various forums you should set it to never and turn wifi on and off when needed. i havnt tried because i went back to 2.2.1.

The wifi was never on when I noticed the fast battery drain. I usually only turn wifi and bluetooth on as I need it.

shouldn't be a problem if you follow the instructions clearly and correctly.
Before you ask there is a link at the top of this thread, go to xda it will have all the necessary info on there.

Well this is a beta and its better then the last beta, but a polished rom and kernel for froyo 2.2.1 is better.
I do use gingerbread now, but i cant say I like it.
Its still buggy and things need to be fixed.
I guess it will be 1-3 month before Samsung will release it official and the source code for it.
Before that we cant even thing of a gingerbread firmware thats better then Froyo.

installed it but only used for a couple of hours back to 2.2.1 what i don't like with this unofficial release is that, games i usually play takes time to load and sometimes, there are no graphics, only the sounds. also, some of my applications cannot be found in the android market. mobile ap and gps functions well and i have noticed an improved graphics over 2.2.1. one more things that made me go back to 2.2.1 is the score in quadrant benchmark. i scored much higher in 2.2.1 than this 2.3
