Help Is HSUPA already enabled in Gingerbread 2.3?

AreJaye

I just bought a new htc inspire already rooted and running gingerbread and I'm wondering if the HSUPA enabled with gingerbread or how I can tell? I wanna make sure I'm running on true 4g. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a newb to android but slowly learning. Thanks in advance!

Of course it is in 2.3, 2.2 too

Maybe your Radio doesn't support it?
Mine didn't till I updated it

BTW HSUPA is 3.5G
at least it is in Europe

HSUPA is unrelated to the Android version. It's controlled by a settings file in the ROM that is customized by the handset maker (or ROM chef in the case of cooked ROMs) specifically for the phone model. Virtually all of the cooked ROMs for the Inspire have the HSUPA settings turned on.

Go to "Software info" under "About phone" in settings. Your baseband version should be something like 12.39.60.19x_... If the x digit is a U or a P, then HSUPA has been enabled.
