Help Is it a "Rogue" update (Malware)?

One of our M8s received a message this morning that there is an update to correct a battery issue caused by an earlier update. It further states that the update can only be delayed twice. (Option tabs are 'cancel' and 'update') We cancelled and then tried to manually select "HTC updates" from settings - NO UPDATES AVAILABLE! Is the above mentioned request to update an attempt to install malware on the phone or legitimate! If anyone has information, please advise!

If it came through the system software update notification system then it won't be malware. But that's the question: was it a real notification or a pop-up from some dodgy app or website ad script that was designed to look like one? The fact that there was no update available through the system menu sounds more like the latter, but I don't have any hard information.
