Root Is it bad to randomly wipe dalvik cache?

[sushifor5]

OK, so I did google and read about dalvik cache...I think i understand what it is. But I'm wondering what exactly is the difference between the dalvik cache and each individual app's cache?

Is it bad to wipe the dalvik cache randomly or regularly...if i'm not putting on a ROM? i was wondering if i should do a dalvik cache wipe to increase phone memory...or if it hinders the actions of the phone?

TIA!

Hope not,cuz i do it fairly regularly when my market tells me I don't have room to download a 2mb app with 80mb free.
