Is it illegal?

Hi guys

I'm new on this androids things, so I have been searching on the Internet but I can't find anything saying about this

Is it illegal to root the phone in uk?
I founded already saying that it is in usa. But nothing about uk.

If I do it can I lose the warranty or there are ways to "hide" that I done? I know that exist more than one way to do it but I don't know the differences between them

If anyone take me these doubts I would be very thankful

There is nothing illegal about rooting your phone in the USA. You have confused rooting with unlocking which is an entirely different process. Although rooting can void your warranty it is not illegal in the USA. I doubt that it would be illegal in the UK either. To the best of my knowledge most if not all European / Asian phones are already unlocked when purchased. Only the US has this crazy locked to a carrier restriction. Although it is not illegal to own an unlocked phone in the US.

welcome to AF!!!!!!

well it is actually not illegal here in the US to root phones. it does void out your warranty though. however, it is illegal to unlock phones and flash it to another carrier which is mainly for gsm carriers.

the only thing is i'm not sure about other countries, but i would think that if rooting was illegal in other parts of the world the we would have heard about it by now. and i can only assume that your carrier would void out your warranty if you were to root it.

So would be better to wait until the warranty pass? because I have a samsung galaxy s4 and usually the brands give 2 years of warranty since the phones come to the market.

that is up to you. i will always root my device no matter what warranty i have and even if it voids my warranty. it is super hard to brick your phone.the main thing is to read and read and ask as many questions that you might have. and if anything you can unroot the phone if need be. now i have not really looked into how to root the s4 as i do not have the phone so i can't say anything specific about it.

just go here:(International) Galaxy S4 - All Things Root - Android Forums and read the stickies and also check out the threads there to learn more about rooting your phone.
