Root Is it possible for roms to fix phone reception problems

I'm just wondering if roms or any other root method might fix the annoying problem with my phone (not sure if you experience it aswell). When talking to someone and suddenly I can barely hear the person on the other line or they can barely hear me. It goes from clear then line becomes unclear it gets ridiculously annoying specially if its an important phone call. My phone is rooted with umph kernel and prl fix (changed it to 1120) I also have the blackish rom installed.
