Help Is it possible to freeze bloatware without rooting?

I'm going to buy an Optimus M soon, obviously the 2.2.1 update will be pre-installed. I don't wanna risk bricking my phone trying to root it, so I was wondering if there is a way to freeze bloatware without rooting?

i just got my optimus a week or two ago and it came with 2.2.1 and i thought i would have to downgrade and wasnt looking forword to that so i waited till last night and followed the instructions at this post

and everything should be fine. i started to freak out when i didnt get any cell service but it explains everything in the post.
