Root is it possible to root from the phone

I want to root my phone but my work blocks message board websites. So is there a way to root from the phone? If not I guess ill wait till I get home.
 
If you have 2.1 running on your phone than you can not. You'd have to use rsd lite on your PC to flash back to 2.0.1 and root from there. The other option you have is to flash sprecovery to 2.1 and you'd still have to do it on your PC. I was in the same boat as you but was able to do it at work being that I was on 2.0.1. I'm pretty sure those are your only options and if anyone else has any ideas, chime in.
 
Word of advise - Wait till you get home. This way if you run into problems you will have your PC available to download any needed tools and files. Got myself in a few jams rooting on the road, at work, and sitting drunk at the local bar.
