Root Is it possible to root without a usb connection?

I had my epic rooted on 2.1. My usb port broke and then when 2.2 came out, I ran the official update.zip from the sdcard which took away root.

Is there a way to get root back by using the SD card only? Are there pre-rooted update.zip updates? I am currently on EB13.

And as I type this, the EC05 OTA just popped up on my screen.

Any ideas?
