Help Is it really okay to charge Samsung Epic every night?

So I have been researching this question on the internet and I can not get a straight answer. People both say yes and no. Some people say to only charge the phone when it needs charged and others say charging it every night is fine. So what is the right way to charge the Epic? Every night or only when it needs charged?

The more the battery charges and discharges, the more wear and tear on the battery and the less and less it will hold a charge. The less you do charge it, the better for the battery itself.
That being said, I charge my phone every night and leave it in the charger. I plan on using my stock battery for 2 years and I most likely will have no trouble with the battery. I haven't noticed any decline in battery life since I got the phone in November. To be honest, you should have no trouble with your battery if you charge it every night.

I did a research too and most said that no it doesnt affect the life. When you are charging the phone gets hot which is not good for the battery but when it completes charging the phone becomes cold. This means that it stops charging. (though it only uses a small amount of power to keep charging 100%)
So ya... it's safe :)

So my Samsung Epic's stock battery will not overcharge?

The charge discharge shortened battery life is true of NiCads, but LiIon and NiMH batteries, and lead acid do not have that problem. There is very little new rechargeable electronics that don't have over charge protection, so charging it overnight or at other times is fine.

Yes its fine :) Forgot to tell you that make sure you are using the charger that came with the phone. This is the charger that stops charging once its full. If you use a cheap one it will continue charging and **** up your battery

Thanks everyone. I am very happy to know that I can charge my battery every night without worrying about it overcharging or losing life! :D

Deep cycling Lithium-Ion batteries is probably worse for them than topping them off every night.

The charger circuit in the phone stops charging the battery when the battery is full. It won't overcharge.

i'm currently using a different samsung charger (my reclaim charger) and it stops once it's full as well.

i'm guessing it's okay, and that i dont have to use the one it came with, right everyone?

Ok look.. Download an app measuring the temperature of the phone... check when its not plugged (normal temp) then plug it... when u wake up check again while its plugged. If it's too high then it means the charger doesnt stop charging and it will **** up your battery... if the phone is cold (normal temp) then the charger is like the normal one and ur fine.

(This is what i read somewhere btw )
