Root Is it safe to remove HTCMusic.apk?

Like the title says I want to get rid of the stock HTC music player on my EVO. Is it safe to delete the HTCMusic.apk without issues? Thank you

first off are you rooted? you cant delete the file unless you are rooted. and if you are rooted then try freezing it first with titanium backup.

Yes i am rooted and Ive removed several of the known safe stock apps which include sprint tv and some other sprint stuff i dont use. I currently use google music and might try winamp out but definitely will not be using the HTC Music app. So is it safe to remove? Has anyone removed it without issues?

PS I don't use titanium backup I just use root explorer and delete the APK of the stock app I want to get rid of.

moved you to the rooting section. i believe that it should be safe to remove it. just make a nandroid backup before doing so. and titanium backup to me is a must when you are rooted, but that is up to you.

you should freeze the apps in TB first and see how your phone reacts to that after a few days and if its fine, then go ahead and delete...

saw that post and a few others like it. It says music.apk is safe but no mention of htcmusic.apk.

I removed it with no issues on mik3d.

I have stock rooted ROM. It doesn't seem like it should be an issue. Performing backup and will give it a shot.

I removed the apk using rootexplorer with no issues. Using winamp now... much better and faster than google music.

We need a new list on whats safe to remove on the stock rom.

The only issues I had by freezing that app is that the alarms do not work on the phone. I have not found any other program to substitute as I use my phone as my daily alarm clock.

My alarm works perfectly fine. There is no need to freeze the app. I just used root explorer and deleted the apk found in system/app.
