Help Is it the battery?

Hello all

Thanks in advance for trying to help me out!!

Over the weekend my phone has decided to stop working. I don't believe there has been any water damage but its very hard to tell if its pink with red crosses or white with red. It hasn't come in any contact with anything that I know of.

For starters my phone hasn't been keeping a very good charge. My phone wasn't turing on at all and then all of a sudden today it actually turned on (screen and everything was fine). As soon as it got to the home screen it prompted me to charge it and then turned back off. When I plug it into the wall sometimes the orange light comes on and is flashing. Also, sometimes there is a little faint red light that I can see over by the checkmark of the verizon symbol.

When I plug it in with the USB nothing happens other then my computer telling me the USB device has malfunctioned.

Could I just be having battery issues or could it be something else?? I am a cheerleading coach and last friday let one of my girls borrow my phone for awhile to call their parents. I'm sure something could've happened during that time but I didn't actually see anything happen and I haven't had any contact with water and the phone.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

I've let my phone die completely a couple times, and when I plugged it in the charging light flashed for a bit before staying on constantly so I don't think that's an issue.

Also, that faint red light to the left of the Verizon logo is the proximity censor. It lights up sometimes when my phone is turned off and charging, not really sure why.

It sounds like you could very well have a bad battery, and batteries are cheap enough to replace and see if it really is the culprit rather than going through the hassle of exchanging your phone. You could also have a busted charging port, which would help explain the error message you get when you plug it into the computer. I've read that busted USB port is a fairly common problem on this phone, seen several posts about it on this forum and others so it wouldn't surprise me. I would suggest taking it to Verizon and see if they will pop in a new battery and test it out. If that doesn't work then see about exchanging it.
