is it worth buying a 3rd party bigger batter for the Note 2?

For me? No. I had 15 hours of normal use yesterday (moderate user), and I was down to 53%. My iphone 4 would have been dead. I WILL pick up an extra regular battery eventually, but thats just in case, or when on vacation and using it A LOT.

Your needs may be completely different. And if you use the phone A LOT, then it might be great for you. I am a fan of sticking with Samsung/verizon branded batteries, whether extended or regular sized.

I ordered a Hyperion 6200mAh extended battery, mostly because I will be in Vegas for awhile and will not be able to charge my phone for a day or two at a time. :D

I also don't need an extended battery. You could buy two stock batteries for price of the extended one without the extra bulk.

I have an extended battery off of eBay for $8 inc shipping. It came with a back cover and I used it for about a week. It was ok, not great but ok. It got about 1.2 times longer. I didn't mind the feel of it at all. I do want to try a good quality cheaper extended battery but definitely not the mugen price of $100
