Is it worth it for the service?

I opened up an account with T-Mobile. I Got a value plan that me gives 500 minutes, unlimited text & data, which amounts to $54.99 (without tax & fees) . Something I did not know and wasn't told by the rep sales guy was that the service came with a 2 year contract.

I went back to the store and expressed my concern. He showed me the available (pre-paid) plans. Compared it to the value plan I currently have. And told me that it would be cheaper in the long run to stay with my current 2 year service plan. Plus with the value plan, I can get a company discount of 15% of my monthly bill. I wouldn't get any discount if I were on pre-paid. Plus I would need the $60 or $70 dollar pre-paid plan to suffice my needs.

I am well within the 14 days (remorse) period to cancel my contract without paying a ridiculous fee. I would still be charge a "prorated" fee for the 2-3 days that I have used the service. So what do you guys think? Give me your opinions!

I just did the $70 prepaid thing the other day. I'm going to see how it goes for the month. I'm already into the phone for over $500 versus buying it through T-Mobile for $199, but I like the idea of no contract with unlimited calls and texting with 5GB of data. No ties, and no issues . But some things are sometimes too good to be true...we'll see!

I have always done contracts since with verizon there is no prepaid for whatever phone I want. I have always enjoyed the lower price for a device and I don't use that much data anyhow so I don't need unlimited.

Personally i would say it's up to you. If anything go prepaid for a month then if you don't like it go on contract

It really is going to depend on your usage. Once you max out the less expensive plans they no longer are the bargain you thought they were.

It depends. Do you like T-mobile? Do you like the service where you are? Is the coverage good? Do you see yourself staying with T-mobile for the foreseeable future? If so, stick with your Value plan - it's a good deal. If you think you may want to switch providers in the near future for whatever reason, a prepaid plan is the way to go.

or you could go Solavei for 49.99 this month free sign up first month free they use tmobiles network unlimited everything cap at 4gb data someone else posted it though on here. Another post i'll try to find them if you plan on going to that service since referrals make money/ you actually can get paid for your service after referring 9 people or a group of 3 that refer two groups or whatnot or if i plan on getting it i can link my referral code lolz but i don't know enough people that need new service to bring it down to 30 a month each 3 referrals you receive 20$ each month

With the 15% discount, I would be solid. I'm just curious on a couple of things. If I decide to roll with this, (after 14 days remorse period) how much will it be to break my contract once I realize I don't want a contract?

Also, I was used to texting my friends in Dominican Republic (on occacions) with my MetroPCS service. It seems that T-Mobile charges 0.20cents per internation text (very ridiculous). If a friend/family calls me using a calling card, will I somehow get charged?

I'm just curious if the $70 dollars include taxes & fees or not.

Sounds like an option to consider, but i'm just not completely sold on it. Don't know how reliable they are, etc...

well i'm guessing as good as tmobile's network the other user that posted about this says "
Battery Park Time Square Rockefeller Plaza Central Park Wall Street everything in between average 8-12 Meg downloads and upload never less than 3. If you're going to sign up private message me and I will send you my referral link Thanks.
for speeds and i'm guessing that call quality is same well actually here's another quote lolz

Yes! And in many areas its faster than Verizon. I just test 16MB down and 3 up from the Rest Room at my office. In comparison VZ cannot even get signal in the Rest Room. :D I was actually worried about giving up the speed of VZ so I kept my Galaxy Nexus for the first 2 weeks along side of my Nexus 4. No regrets! None at all.
also like i said before they use t-mobiles network so where how your service on tmobile works i'm sure it'd be the same with Solavei though i don't know just thought i'd offer some info on a plan ;)

btw i got the quotes from this topic

My guess is that it does. I have the $30 plan (5GB, 100 mins), and I just pay $30 every 30 days - taxes and fees are not extra. Assuming all their prepaid plans work the same, this is the likely case for the $70 prepaid plan as well.

I'm wondering If I could order their SIM, use it for one or two days to see if I like it and if I don't, cancel it without having to spend anything?

according to they're site Sign Up, Log In, or Learn More | Solavei it's free for this month so one month free and everything included tho idk how that works exactly here's the text from the site directly

"Mobile service contract ending soon? Switch to Solavei by December 31 and get your first month of service FREE, and get your SIM card FREE when you bring your own phone."
btw if you do chose this option send rswheaton a msg i'm sure he'd like the free referrals help instead of signing up from the blue might as well if they're are enough people like a group of 3 that want to sign up msg me also i'd take this plan and then get the 20$ off/ to me so i'd be paying 30 a month n have unlimited minutes this way if you want that is would be nice :D

I would use Straight Talk through T-Mobile. I assume using Straight Talk on the T-Mobile network has a MUCH more lenient data policy then using Straight Talk on AT&T. Once the value plans from T-Mobile are out of the equation you really can't beat it.
