Is it worth it?

When i got the razr maxx with my plan ot was the highest specced phone id ever had. But since an accident with water its been acting up.

It seems like my best bet is to get a moto g considering price/benefit because im not renewing my contract yet. but i am concerned about if im going to be dissapointed about battery, camera and other stuff considering my actual phone is a razr maxx xt910, not the droid version.

I come to this dilemma because i have never bought a mid range android before ( i actually think its better than the one i have right now)

Thanks for your time reading this.

Battery should last all day. Who is your service provider? I don't know if you're into rooting and such, but the Verizon version is not boot loader unlockable (to my knowledge). The Boost mobile and the GSM versions (purchased from Moto directly or Amazon) are. I love it. I bought one directly from Moto and am using it on metroPCS with their BYOD program.

Yep right now the Verizon moto g is unrootable due to how locked down Verizon has the bootloader.

That's my only complaint with it, and battery life isn't that great either.

Otherwise I'd recommend the moto g to pretty much anyone that's looking for a cheap Android with decent specs.

Sorry to hear you're not getting good battery. Here is mine for today:

Now, as you can see, I've only had the screen on for two hours and forty minutes. I've used the phone off and on; checking email, tapatalk, a few web pages, etc. I've also had access to my home computer for a lot of my web surfing. On a typical work day, I'd probably be down in 20 to 30% range by nine o'clock at night.

Well I'm coming from a g2 which gets no less than 1.5 days on a single charge if not more than that on heavy use so that's why I say the g2 doesn't get good battery life for me.

well im not buying it in the USA, the provider would be telcel (i think its from the same company as AT&T) from mexico so i hope its not as locked as the verizon, it doesnt really matter that much for rooting, but i like custom bootloaders.

Well thanks guys, i've made my mind now im getting the moto G and in december getting a new contract with a high end phone and maybe sell/ gift the G (or keep it haha :) )

Edit: damn i forgot to ask if im getting the 8gb version (bust cause my 32gb card will have to rest on my desk) how much usable space am i getting for apps and storage? on the maxx (16gb) its like 4gb apps, 2 for the phone and stuff and the rest for storage

If you buy it directly from Google play, I think the 16gb unlocked GSM version is $199.

The only problem is it doesn't have expandable storage :(

One thing to keep in mind since you're using it on Verizon is you'll be limited to 3G, and we all remember what 3G on Verizon is like. ;)
