Is Launcher Pro Plus faster/smoother than ADW?

Ok...weird problem today.
Well this afternoon my LPP program froze up and kept wanting me to do a force-close but it would just go back to asking me to do a force-close after selecting that option. It was like it was stuck in a loop or something. I couldn't do anything else with the phone...completely locked up. I rebooted but that did nothing as it went right back to doing the same thing. I finally jerked the battery out and then stuck it back in and booted up and it's running fine with the exception that the LPP calendar widget wouldn't load so I filed 13'd it.

Just wanted to point out that you can have a 5 icon dock in ADW as well. In ADWSetting, go to UI Settings, then check off LAB, RAB, and Secondary ActionButtons.
I was a HUGE fan of LPP, even bought the paid version. I loved the widgets but then my phone kept lagging and it kept force closing. Now when I say "kept" force closing, I mean every other time I press home, it would freeze for ten minutes and then the force close would pop up. So, I have been back with adw now, and you know I customized it the way I wanted and have no issues with it.

Try uninstalling Lookout. I was using that for awhile and noticed an improvement when I uninstalled.

I've been using LPP for a few days now, and for me, it's a huge improvement over ADW. The custom "themes" for ADW can easily be replicated on LPP by using custom icons, and LPP is much smoother and less buggy for me for whatever reason. Weird how it's the opposite for some people.

Damn I just did this and then ran Quadrant to see what effect it would have. 1364 my highest ever score, freakin amazing!

I've got Launcher Pro and ADW on my phone right now, playing around with both today... ADW seems a little more intuitive to me, but I like that LP has all those widgets. Is it possible to change the buttons at the bottom of LP? One of them takes me to Text Messaging, but I never use standard SMS on my phone, so I'd rather change it to something else. Also, what's the difference between LP and LPP? Thanks!

Nice! I figured you could. Just not sure how to do it with LP. Can you only do it in LP Pro?

Additionally, you can add a swype/gesture to each docked icon to activate another app. For example, I have the browser icon activating Dolphin HD when clicked but when I swype over it, it opens Opera Mini. So that in effect you have access to 30 docked apps, not just 15.
I really like em both. I stuck with Launcher Pro as the main one cuz of the scrolling dock area. I dont like the swipe up dock area of ADW. Its hit or miss for me sometimes..
If Home Switcher worked on 2.2 I would use them both more. (Home Switcher doesnt keep what you pick as default on 2.2, you would have to hit clear defaults in settings/applications/manage applications. Under 2.2, when u hit the Home key after setting another launcher to default with Home Switcher, it reverts back to the other launcher...)

That's not true. I have 2.2 and Home Switcher and LPP as my default...no problems keeping it that way. Home button ALWAYS takes me to LPP.

Oh man, good to know.
LPP is turning out to be really good. There is some serious lag when I switch orientations - like it has to re-draw all of the icons/widgets - and it doesn't look quite right in landscape mode (may just be on my display but things look scrunched), but otherwise it's been great.

Well, now that isn't possible, since I don't have, want or need anything other than LPP!
So if that's the case with multiple launchers, I misspoke.I used to have ADW, but honestly never even tried it. I played with LPP first and it was love at first sight.

Been playing around with this sort of setup (a main function and a "secondary" function with swipe), and here's what I've got:
App Drawer, swipe over = Astro
Gallery, swipe over = camera
Dolphin, swipe over = Android browser
Contacts, swipe over = Contact search
Dialer, swipe over = Voice dialer
This is working beautifully for me.

gReader, swipe over = folder of my News apps (used Apps Categories to create the folder of my news apps)
GPS icon - click = open folder of my GPS apps; swipe over opens GPS Test app
I've stopped using LP+ for awhile because of the serious lagging from switching from portrait to landscape. It' just became VERY irritating.
I use a basic laucher now, Zeam. It's extremely basic, but is very fast and no lagging.
Hopefully LPP will get fixed soon and I'll go back to it!

Calibrating your phone usually helps with that. Settings.... Location & security settings... Calibrate compass.

I've come to the conclusion that they both lag. After time, they both have the home screen reload problem. I'm learning to live without them. I became dependent on these launchers. So its been hard not having all the features, but I like function over beauty, and I cant stress enough how my DX has run much more faster, and stable just using the stock Froyo launcher found on the Apex ROM.
If you return to your home screen, and have to wait on icons/widgets to pop up, these launchers are the cause. They aren't as perfect as most people would have you believe.
