Root Is MMS busted?

Bugly

Android Expert
Or is it a verizon thing lately? I can't seem to send pictures to save my life lately. Have tried on CM7, Broodcomb and stock GB .596 and no luck with it.

It's been weird, I try to send a picture to someone and it gets the spinning clock of death, sometimes it keeps going for hours or just fails completely. Happens mostly with pix I have taken with my DX recently, maybe it's something in the camera app that isn't compatible with MMS

So do I, normally, so that's why I was concerned. I wonder if the file size is too large because of the widescreen setting?

If that is the case it *should* notify you. If you use Handcent there is a checkbox to automatically resize.

Yup, I use Handcent and have had no trouble until after (I'm not blaming it...) installing CM7. Since that time, I've been on several ROMs, including stock and rooted .596 and for some reason, my pictures seem to get stuck in the sending mode and sometimes don't send at all. My wife is having the same problem with her D2G. Maybe we're being MMS throttled...lol

Try a #228 first and then reactivate if needed.

Happened a long while ago on a different phone where MMS messages wouldn't send. It has to do with your roaming profile being messed up, or so Verizon tech informed me.

Did you and your wife go on a trip recently? That's what borked mine.

last trip we went on was in february to florida, was working after that, but the 228 idea won't harm anything, will try that
Nope, no change. Will probably be going to big red store to complain, I pay waaaaaay too much each month for four lines to have this happen, thanks anyhow!

How long have you been trying to get the MMS working? It might just be network congestion in your area. I am testing mine as we speak. I don't send pics much so I don't know if it's just you or VZW just yet.

EDIT: O'k, just heard from the wife. I sent her a pic both before and after updating my roaming and she got both so mine is working. But I also do not travel outside my coverage area much either so your problem may be in the phone itself not updating your roaming after your trip. Go rip big red a new one man.....lol

yeah, it was fine after the trip, but just recently it went wonky. Called customer "service" last night, the wife's D2G was somehow set to global and that seemed to help her, mine is still goofy

seriously? This is still going on, I'm about to tell big red to shove this device into an orifice that usually pertains to outward bound materials. Stuck sending a picture of my dog to my wife for four hours!!!!!!!!!!! seriously? For $350.00 a month, I can't even send a frigging picture of my dog?
Any Verizon reps on board? Wanna take an angry customer service phone call?

Hmmm that sucks, mine has been repeatedly adding an attachment when i try to reply to a text, deleted the pic from card but apparently it remembers it still :/

Will it not send to anyone?

Weird thing happened, I noticed today I had multiple copies of the same names in my contacts list (probably from importing them) I went through and manually deleted the extra contacts and now the MMS seems to be working better. Coincidence? I haven't a clue, will keep posted though if this is a true fix.

Here's what I've found with MMS and Android. Maybe I'm not breaking new ground here - but if I am:

I have had the most difficult time sending MMS messages when hooked up to wifi. I noticed the other day when I turned OFF wifi before sending an MMS message, it went right through. I stood literally in the exact same spot in my house, turned on wifi and tried to send the same MMS message and it would not go through. I think Android has a hard time negotiating the 3G/Wifi data difference b/c obviously MMS messages aren't sent over wifi.

Anyone care to comment? :D

Update:
The Wi-Fi experimant didn't make any difference, but removing the multiple "same-name" contacts did the trick. Apparently, when going to CM7 on some devices, if you set up your phone in FroYo, then go to CM7, if you're using Google backup and the SD card to back up contacts, the contacts can get stacked on top of one another. This, combined with doing backups daily on my google account gave me (in some cases) six copies of each contact. I had over a thousand "contacts" in my phone, no wonder it got confused...

Works for me every time on every ROM. Different phones react differently I guess. My wife has an OG Droid and it's the same thing for her - turn off wifi and the MMS goes through right away. Go figure.
