Is official FroYo comming to Galaxy Apollo?

has anybody got any information that isn't hearsay from samfirmware? a ROMs appearance on samfirmware is no indication of an imminent or even any future official release.

my fear is that with the new range coming out in the next few weeks, plus the recent price drop (it's halved in price in the u.k.) then samsung might fear that a froyo update will encourage people to buy that rather than the new models.

I'm giving samsung till the end of april then i'm going to flash it.

All i'm after is the wi-fi hotspot functionality! :-) I can only find usb tethering from rooting 2.1
 
that's the issue though, nobody can point to any official information. it's all hearsay. who told you, samsung themselves? I'm not saying it won't come out but until it appears on kies everybody is just guessing!
 
well it did came to kies and few people did upgraded but it has some bugs which few people reported after which they deleted from there server . One of the person email them and asked . They told it should available after 4th march till then will fix few bugs . Who know . Its habit of Samsung to forget old mobile

I have also send an e-mail to samsung and got the answer that Froyo will be available within 2 to 6 weeks from now.

I live in Belgium.

It does come with 2.1 and at the moment can't (officially) be upgraded to 2.2. The person you are dealing with was probably just following a stock script and probably isn't aware of a timeline for froyo. It's probably not in samsung's best interests to announce a froyo timeline unless it's a high profile flagship product like the galaxy S. That way they aren't committing to anything and can divert resources should the need arise. The ROMs that are out there show that they are at least working on it and my gut feeling is that it will be here by the end of April (if not before).

If it doesn't come then there are plenty of guides for unofficially upgrading and you just have to have a think as to why you want to upgrade and how confident you are at doing it? You need to take into account how much you paid for it, are you tied into a long contract and what are your options if you brick it?

For instance, I really require wifi tethering and would quite like SD storage for apps. I'm not tied into a long term contract and it only cost me
 
We just need to hope that samsung is quick..
I bet Samung is working constant on updates for other smartphones..........

iv had my galaxy apollo unlocked and need settings to use internet and things,,, i did get a list of settings from some1 from here but sadly was stored on my laptop but it went up in smoke literally lol :( rip laptop :(
if any1 could be of any help i would be most greatfull
