Root Is OTA Compatible?

I just rooted my Evo V a few hours ago, and I realized that my software version was still 1.13.xx. I am using the stock rom by JMZ (Thanks btw!), and I checked for a software update and I have the 14.65 mb one that was supposed to fix the texting issue. Can I download this? If not, is there somewhere I can find it or something that will fix it?

Thanks man. Since I still have S-On, would I just go to recovery and flash the zip? I honestly have no idea what is wrong and what's right

I'm pretty sure you need s off to update, I may be wrong.
I think you need to run the ruu if you're s on. Which if you don't have a copy, it may be tough to get now

But im s off and I'm really not sure.

If you rooted already you won't be able to update to the OTA with a custom recovery installed even if you are still on the stock ROM. I think someone posted the stock recovery before, but I don't know if anyone has been successful flashing that and installing the OTA or not.

As adamhos1234 indicated the only clean way to install the OTA with S-ON is to flash the RUU and immediately download and install the OTA, but it might be easier to go for S-OFF and then install joe_blow's all-in-one file that will update all your firmware and install a custom recovery and hboot.

The thing is that I had the update since the very very beginning, but it went away after rooting. I guess my best option is to S Off, which I was planning to do anyway.

Oh, you are probably looking at the build number instead of the baseband version. The build number will depend on the base used for the ROM that is currently flashed but as long as your baseband version is 1.09.00.0706 you have the OTA firmware installed.

I would still recommend going S-OFF since it makes things a lot easier.
