Help Is OTA update available for I9505XXUGNG2

gyrex

Newbie
Hi,

I'm currently running:

AP: I9505XXUGNF1
CP: I9505XXUGNF1
CSC: I9505OXAGNF1

I notice that new I9505XXUGNG2 firmware is available and I've tried to update using OTA but I keep getting a message saying "The latest updates have already been installed".

Should I be able to update this via OTA? I'm not rooted and used odin to flash the original I9505XXUGNF1 rom previously.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums gyrex! :)

NG2 firmware is available but only for phones, currently, with CSC code OXA and Product code DBT, (Germany). See post #46 of KitKat 4.4.2 "bugfix" updates rolling out for more details and an explanation on how to locate your CSC and Product codes.

Judging from your CSC code, you should be eligible for the German update. For reasons that you may not be receiving it and what you can do about it, see #1.4 and #1.5 of 28 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?

Thanks so much for your helpful response ironass! I read the posts that you sent me to and I can't see any reason why an OTA update wouldn't be available to me. I'm running a stock nf1 ROM, uprooted and my CSC is OXA per the guidelines on the post but for some strange reason I can't get an update...

I tried refreshing the nf1 ROM and starting from scratch after resetting to factory defaults before and after the flash but still no luck... :(

Do you have any other suggestions?

Install Phone Info as mentioned in #1.3 of 28 Galaxy S4 models - know yours? and check that...

1. Your Product code is in fact DBT (Germany)

2. That your original CSC code matches your active CSC code.

Failing all else you can flash the NG2 firmware via Odin as per #1.5 of the above link.

Once again I really appreciate your help ironass!!!

I hope you don't mind, but I've taken some screenshots from phone info. Can you derive from that why I wouldn't be able to do an OTA update?

I noticed that firmware's CSC code is BTU...? Do you know any way to change that to DBT?

Your Product code is BTU, (United Kingdom), and not DBT, (German). At some stage German firmware has been flashed to a UK handset. This explains why you cannot update via Kies or OTA.

Personally I would just flash the German firmware via Odin. There are a number of guides on how to alter your CSC code at your own risk...

Ironass you are my hero! I rooted then used the phone Info app to change the csc to dbt, unrooted and did a factory reset and immediately I got an ota update come through...

Thank you so much for your help! That phone info app really helped differentiate the difference between the active csc and the csc software loaded as part of the stock rom...

Thank you so much!!!!
