Root is rooting the captivate safe?

will rooting my phone void its warranty with AT&T, also if froyo or gingerbread ever come out, will i be able to get the full upgrades?
 
Yes, it will void your warranty (but you can unroot) and from what I've heard updates come through fine - I hadn't rooted when I got the 2.1 update, so I'm waiting to see what happens if and when hell freezes over and we get Froyo. If it takes too much longer I may just give up and go to the custom ROM.
 
I would not do it again. My phone has been screwed for 4 weeks. Apps take 30 seconds to load. The only thing that works in the phone. There is no place to take it for repair. I've only got 6 months until I get a new one.

Rooting did that? Or did you flash a ROM? I can't imagine rooting doing that kind of damage.
 
Don't exactly know how to answer the question. I paid someone to root it because I wanted the Sirius XM app, which for some reason was not available in the market on this phone. Maybe I'm wrong to blame the rooting, but the phone sure is failing.

Sounds like they did a lot more than root the phone. I'd be careful about spreading inaccurate fear/concern over rooting if that's not the actual problem in your situation.
 
I am sure the person who rooted ur phone did some screw up..

I am not sure it will work (as i am not expert) but u can one click odin flash to stock and then go ahead with what u wanna do...it takes u to point when u bought it first,....Just a suggestion..I dk if it will help u or make it more worse....I would say reserach more and then do it,,
