Is screen that bad?

I live in Florida, and yes, you can see the screen in direct sunlight, but IMO, its not like super clear, maybe because my brightness is on 50%, still can see the screen but not like what I thought.

Set to auto brightness and forget it... Auto brightness works better on the MoPho than any other phone I've ever had firsthand experience with.

SuperAmoled is much brighter ans crisper overall. In direct sun SuperAmoled wins hands down. That being said the MoPho still has a decent screen, qHD is just not AS good...

This. I never used auto brightness of my Evo after the first few weeks of ownership because it always seemed to keep the screen too bright and drained battery. 30% worked great, although you couldn't really see the screen outside in the sun.

With the Photon I immediately put it on 30% as well when I first got it, but wasn't overly happy with that setting. I stuck it on auto brightness on the second day just to see how it worked and haven't turned it off since. It's not perfect, but it's the best I've seen to date and hasn't had a noticeable downside in regard to battery life.

It really bugged me on the evo cause it would shift brightness a lot while I was looking at the screen.

So my Photon should be arriving soon and I've read some customer reviews on the screen quality not being that sharp (especially compared to the Evo 4g). For those who have had the phone for a bit, can you confirm, deny, or offer any other thoughts about the screen quality? Thanks in advance!

Best display I have seen on any Android phone. I have found HTC screens to be the worst. Samsung has some great displays and Motorola is pretty good as well.

I am in Florida as well...was in a small airplane with a canopy and could easily read things..couldn't do that on any other phone. Friend has an Iphone 4 and it was good, but not as easy to read. I always use auto brightness and since the battery life is so good on this thing, it has not been an issue.

+ on Auto Brightness. In Sunny L.A., during the middle of the day (walking to lunch), I never have any problems reading/responding to messages or browsing. Once the sensor recognizes the need to increase the brightness, it's crystal clear in daylight. I was so used to having to switch auto-brightness on and off with the EVO, but never have to do that anymore with the MoPho.
