Is The Battery Life Enough For You?

Remordere

Android Enthusiast
There are always the notion that DHD batteries suck.It is understandable because it is a smart phone with many things running, but mine seems to last me a day sometimes about 16 hours, without tweaking anything except for the USB debugging. So, is the battery life enough for you?

I charge it once a day, but I am on around 50-60% after 1 day. So yea for me the phone can last me around 1 and a half days without charge

I make sure I'm in control of the things that would drain a lot of power from any phone so, yes, my battery life is fine - easily a day of typical use, several days of light use.

I charge it overnight, unplug it at around 7 am, and would probably get twelve hours of use if I didn't top it up in the afternoon. That top-up takes me to the end of the day with juice to spare. I do a lot of browsing.

Personally i think it could be much better if it was say... 1400mAh. but.. it's.. ok i suppose, not that good. i think if it had a OLED screen abttery life would be even better :D. but ah well, lol.

It does have an OLED screen!!!

If you wnat to get more battery life out of the phone: the first thing to do is swich off "Automatic" screen brightness. then set the brightness to about 15%. right down near the bottom of the slider. only turn it up if you are in bright daylight - or working on something which needs the extra brightness.
Install a widget to easily get to the brightness settings from a home page to make it
easier.

Before I did this my screen used up to 90% of my battery - and typically about 75 - 80%. now it uses about 40 - 50%, and I can normally get from one end of the day to the other, with several hours browsing, emailing listening to internet audio streams &c &c.

The screen is WVGA, not OLED.

yuupp not OLED. if it was you would know about it :P. screen would be sharper and battery would b that lil bit better but enough. i think people should just accept its a poor battery..... end of.

oh and my brightness is on 4% dont use auto brightness. :D :D

Wait a minute, so after hundreds of comments in at least 3 threads here, and a couple of months of use by DHD owners here, the final conclusion is that the battery is ok?

("ok"= comparable to other smartphones with the same features...)

if so, what was reported as the biggest weakness of this phone doesn't really exist !

I charge mine the same amount as I did my iPhone (every night) simply being wise with power management should see you through a day at least. I'm always faffing about with it at work and it'll last me a day :)

The screen is actually Super-LCD, that is the kind of screen.
WVGA is just saying that the screen is 5:3 in size (difference between length and width, and has nothing to do with the material used in the screen.

I had a time when the battery was shocking and unusable. Tweaked the setting and not had a problem since. Not brilliant, but acceptable

My battery is alright when compared to a laptop and a tab.
Not so good compared to a 90's phone... but then I'm always on this non stop and it can do more than an old phone and a laptop combined so I'm really happy with the battery...
But it could always be better though... looking forward to the next update, the last one (although buggy)
Increased my battery length by quite a bit...

HTC should fire the guy who designed this big phone with such a small battery .. atleast 1500 mAh would be acceptable ..

i hope they will release some new batteries with extra juice ..
