Is the Droid X upgrade incentive happening or not?

you made sure she noted your account?? damn should i try to call again bc i got upgrade in november of this year contract is up november next year i called 4 times one time said yes and i didnt tell her to note it and when i realized i had to i got denied

You most likely will not be able to upgrade on release day so you might as well just wait something will be out by november that im sure you will want anyway

dont matter all calls are recorded(i was a call center rep for verizon) if she didnt i will demand they pull the call and listen
 
cant they just lie and say they were making a mistake?? i called and emailed a combo of about 7 times only once (the second time i called) about 2 days after the press conference was i told yes i called 4 more times and emailed once within the last 2 days and have been denied

Im sure they can lie but if they listen to the call and if you have the flyer that is floating around saying about the promotion they cant really do much but honor it. Otherwise you could most likely be able to use the "I'm leaving line." although the vzw stores around me already told me that im eligible and knew of the promotion.

If they denied you then sorry but you are SOL. You are just going to have to wait until November they are not going to bend over backwards for everyone i mean if you cant wait until then then the only other option is pay full retail.
 
I managed to get my NE2 moved up from the 21st to the 15th so I could finally get rid of my PoS Storm 1 (I've had since launch day) and welcome some Android goodness into my life.

do you know how much it cost verizon to take a cs call? if u get them on the phone u dont get off until u get what u want even if it take an hour(they hate when i do this) but its not just to get what i want its because they made a mistake and i as the customer should not have to be penalized
 
When I was trying to upgrade to the Incredible I was denied plenty of times, and I mean quite a few. Didn't give up and finally got the answer I wanted, just be sure to be kind but get your point across, and let them know they have already say yes. If you really want the phone don't give up.

Mine were marked, (2) with old ass non smart phones and one with a droid from another line. They told me the two with non smart phones can upgrade but not the one with the droid. I told them that the droid was going back to the original line and then she said that I could upgrade that line as well. Sounds like the upgrade is for non samart phones only. So if you have a line that is upgradeable I'd put a non smart phone on it before upgrading.

I was on the phone with a csr and her manager for 1 hour last night and got three lines moved to 7/15/10. There upgrade dates are in the middle of next year but contract end dates are 11/16/10. (this is because of the assumption of liability changes the contract end date to one year but not the upgrade dates)I was told absolutely no way that they let me upgrade early through Verizon's promotion but by the end The manager tells me "O.K you win, you wore me down"...:eek:
I am very Persistent. :D

Upgrades have nothing to do with smart phones. I am standing in my corporate VZW store now showing the manager this post. Sometimes they offer free phones to those that want to move up to a smart phone. There is too much mis- information on here. You can upgrade the line to the X no matter what phone you have if ur contract is up in 2010. Some managers have even more leeway.

You dont have to have a so called "dumb phone" to be able to upgrade its not that difficult i mean if only 2 of your lines were elegible for upgrade they arent going to magically make the 3rd line eligible too.

Thank you idk how many people kept trying to say its only if you have a dumb phone. The promotion is if your contract ends then you can upgrade no matter what phone you have. Some people just dont get it i guess

DiD you even read my post? THAT is exactly what they did... The floor manager told me the promotion is for contracts ending in 2010 that do not have smart phones on there respective lines and if the line with the droid did not have it on there when I went to get the X it would be upgradable as well.... i TALKED HIM INTO JUST MOVING the upgrade dates (or I would have had to wait until the 15th)

Well he stated the contract ending in 2010 and that it must not have a smart phone on that line. Just telling you what he told ME. Not sure if he knew what he was telling me or if that is the real deal, but it's what he told me. My reason for posting is not to make sh!t up but to tell you what I was told and that you can get ANY date changed with enough persistence. Also I don't know how much trust I would put in a manager at a corporate store, we all know how reliable they are....

Well first I am glad you got yours moved up, but I know I have said this before but I am going to say it again. There are two promotions going on, the first one is if you do not have a smart phone and your contract end date is this year then they will let you upgrade early.

The second promotion is what they announced at the press conference, this one isn't still very wide spread though, and it appears some don't even know about it yet. I have talked with my store and they knew about both. Take it for what it's worth.
 
Yeah they are always trying to get my parents off of their dumb phones and up to a smart phone so they can make more money thats what its all about. But the promotion announced at the press conference is pretty hit or miss thats why i printed out the flyer so if they say anything i can have that to show them although the store around me already said i would be good to upgrade.
 
Will we have to call in to Verizon and talk to a CSR or will the upgrade date automatically update on the 15th? Mine still shows upgrade as July 26th and my contract ends in Nov 10. Not sure if anyone knows this answer either, but will the early upgrade force me to sign a 2 year extension or will I still have the option for a 1 year extension?
 
just to add to the thread.. I talked to VZW:cs, and I told them about the promo and they said "yes we see that u will be eligible to get the X next week" my contract ended this month, but upgrade isnt till march next year. I also told them about another regular phone upgrade and she said they were gonna bump up the date for that line.
