wow i deff expected a lot of negativity but i also deff thought there would be enough postivie feedback to balance it out and what concerns me even more is that a lot of the negative comments are coming from Evo owners

Wow. You asked a question. Most everyone gave positive responces. Yet you keep saying everyonebis posting negative.

What is your agenda?? And what up with 2nd thread again saying everyone is posting negative. Trying to stir something up?

@sagedil.. dude what are you a detective relax. take it easy bro. and that "wow" was supposed to be "well" because unforutanely im still using my cliq which is horrible to type on and that comment was addressing a post from a specific person in this thread (not the thread itself). yes i know this thread has gotten nothing but positive feedback which makes me happy. and the second thread was because i want people to specifically zone in on their thoughts of how snappy the device is.. the reason for all of this is because im paying 200 bucks to get out of contract with tmobile and 200 to get the evo so i want to make sure im making a good decision. so like i said take it easy boss

And I hear you. And do understand. Have read some of your other posts and know where you are coming from.

Yet your posts assume a negativity that is just not correct. Again. Yes some issues. But a tiny number compared with how many phones sold. Even here. Most not having issues.

But your posts imply they are which is incorrect

Look. Just get the phone. 90% chance you will fall in love. If not, return it. Why Sprint gives you 30 days. You risk nothing. Simple.

@sagedil.. well it seems like every thread i went on had about 50 negative comments for every 1 positive comment. but now that a couple people mentioned it i do realize that a lot of people come here for help and to discuss their concerns which is understandable. but i dont understand why everyone is so uptight and paranoid. you blatantly assume that im stirring things up by asking why people are talking so negative about the evo in an evo forum ? . im just excited about the phone but starting to get second thoughts since everyone is bashing it so much

Again. First, some of the trashing may just be trolls stirring up trouble
Happens on every phone forum. And 2nd, look at how many folks have issues. Sure, maybe 50 screens are lifting. Out of hundreds of thousands sold. If everyone or most had issues, would be different.

Again. Go back and look at your thread. Relax, you will love the phone. Or return and go back to T-Mobile. They will waive the ETF if you return.

The Evo has flaws, but then every phone, hell, every consumer device, has flaws. But the things Evo does well are the features I value.

No. 1 was carrier (6+ year Sprint customer), Android, processor and screen size. Everything else is gravy.

no problems for me either. Battery is good (better than Pre), screen is great (no light leakage or popping up), and none of the other strange incidents being reported here. Just lucked out I guess. Glad I got one of the later batches

Ditto with a lot of comments here.. I LOVE this phone. YES I wish the battery was a little more hardy, but you know what-it's a good trade off for the awesomeness of the EVO.

I have no problems with my Evo. I thought the TP2 was the best phone I had ever purchased but Android blows WinMo out of the water IMO. I am also saving a nice chunk of money switching from VZW to Sprint. I haven't seen any issues with the screen popping up above the bevel and have no light leakage.

I am sure you'll love the phone. Don't sweat the negative comments about the phone. I came here to learn about Android because I had never used it before. There are plenty of rude people on here, most are the Evo haters. But everyone else has been helpful.

@mapan83.. yea man i had android for 6 months now being a cliq owner but that is definitely a way lower end device and now i hope to utilize the full potential of android once i get the Evo.. but definitely a lot of rude people on here

Had a Hero and now the EVO. EVO is an amazing phone, and much better than the Hero.

You should be excited. I love my Evo and am so glad I got it. Mine has no problems at all. I hope you enjoy your Evo. Have fun with it!

i visit the forums for primarily one of these reasons:

- post a question to hopefully get an answer to a problem I'm having
- checking if others are having my same problem (might already be a similar question posted)
- find out cool tricks I just didn't know about yet
- advice (stickys) to make my phone run better

FYI might phone is working great so far.

i have only two probs and theyre no deal breakers. i have a loud burst of static throught out calls, like a walkie talkie kinda sound. and i cant get the pc tether to work, and its even a feature thats on the phone not a third party app.

PDAnet ( Downloaded it in the market place ) works like a charm. I am posting this while tethered to my EVO on my laptop and downloading the OTA 2.1 update for my GF's Hero.

I have to say im shocked by all of these comments and threads that im reading. Is the Evo really that bad?? or are people just doing a lot of nitpicking and hating on what is a really amazing phone. Im getting it friday and im still extremly excited to get it but should I be? I mean is this phone just a giant dud? From what I can tell it is in fact an amazing phone, but thats based on the specs, the tons of videos I watched on it, and about an hour of messing around with it.

I have had 8 smartphones before this starting with the t-mobile mda and ending with the tp2 b4 the evo. The evo blows all of the others out the water. This phone is great.

Phone has some issues, but it's brand new. Probably was rushed out so it might take a while for all the kinks to get worked out. Look at the first gen iPhones. Those things are garbage in retrospect. I'm confident these issues will all be worked out. All in all, I love this phone and am never ceased to be amazed by it. It's hard to put down.

IMHO you're on a forum which is used for people to get answers to their problems, bitch, or tell people how much they love the phone.. so what you see is a concentration of problems and bitching since someone who hate the phone (misery loves company) is going to come on and bitch about it while most people that love the phone and aren't gadget geeks won't think to search for an android forum.. so naturally you are going to get more people that hate or have problems with the phone...

think of it like a marriage forum... you're naturally going to see more people talking about divorce or bitching about errors in their spouse than people telling everyone else how much they love their marriage and how wonderful their life is

Forums are a place to solve problems and vent frustrations. You get a disproportionate level of negative comments after launch as everyone figures out the little annoyances and learns how to customize things to fit their preferences and uses.

Personally I find it to be a solid upgrade over my last phone (Palm Pre) with a few minor annoyances that come with anything like this. Overall I am very pleased with it.
