Is The Moment Better Than The Sprint HTC Hero?

nope.. my wife doesn't have google voice on her Moment.. and hers has gone in the pseudo airplane mode at least twice that I know of. that was the main reason I got the Hero.. as far as those that say the Hero lags... mine has NO lag.. for those that "think" the Hero will be to slow on 2.1... there are plenty of Hero owners that are running 2.1 and it i even faster than 1.5..

now... here's my take on the Moment vs Hero argument..

pick the one that YOU like best... if it makes YOU happy then that's all that matters.. BOTH phones have their own little quirks.. it's up to the individual to determine what is a deal breaker or not.

I saw comments about how the Moment users are trying to make their phone look like a Hero.. it's true my wife has asked how she can get her phone to look like mine... and I told her... it's also true that a Hero can't upgrade to a flash or slider.. but the Moment can't upgrade to a 5 megapixel camera.. and it can't upgrade to LED notification.. lie I said.. they both have their quirks..

the only thing that really matters is... both the Hero and Moment run Android..and anyone that runs Android is light years ahead of the rest

Kudos! I completely agree.

Pandahome or GDE in the market place. You have to download either one of these home replacements and then search for a hero theme to match. You can also get lockbot which will emulate the lockscreen from the hero, nexus on or droid.

PandaHome also has an additional app for the Hero or iPhone lock screen

Hey ya'll,

Thought i'd weigh in for the benefit of anyone debating the Moment vs the Hero. I upgraded from a treo 800w to the samsung moment about a month ago. I used it for a couple of weeks and then best buy dropped the price of the Hero so i exchanged the Moment for the Hero and got $108 dollars back. Even not having tried the Hero, i couldn't justify that much more money for the Moment.

once i started using the Hero, i realized that i had made the best decision i could have made. I LOVE the Hero as compared to the Moment. First, i don't notice a huge difference in performance. I'm not hung up on super-instantaneous response, so if there's any lag in the Hero its certainly not enough to bother me. Plus the Sense UI is so much better than the stock Android system on the Moment. Everything seems to be much more seamlessly integrated, the added widgets are great, and the size is much preferable to the bulky Moment.

the reason i got the moment to begin with was that i thought i had to have a physical keyboard. the Moment keyboard is awkward to use. it's not set up like a true qwerty keyboard and is very spread out so i was reaching with difficulty to hit the keys. Having switched to the Hero, the virtual keyboard isn't as bad as i had though it would be. in landscape mode it's very usable, close enough to the physical keyboard for me. plus the predictive spellchecker works very well so even the mistypes resulting from the virtual keyboard are minimized greatly.

Huge for me, is that the Hero has a notification LED which i was very used to having on my 800w. that really bugged me about the Moment.

The last significant thing is that the Hero's screen is soooooo incredibly easy to clean. I'll smudge up the screen really badly, rub it on my pants or shirt a few times and it's perfectly clean. I did that on the Moment but it took a lot more effort to get the finger prints off. I like a clean screen so that was a pretty cool side benefit for the Hero.

One last minor minor thing is that, while i rarely remove my SD card, on the Hero you don't have to remove the battery to remove the SD card which is nice.

good luck with your decision whichever way you go. i think android is pretty good. I look forward to 2.1

The Moment is $69 at Radio shack. (Promotion) and $99 at best buy since it's release. So what do you mean "that much more money?"
