Help Is the update from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 worth it ?

Hello all

I am still running Android 4.1.2 and I have blocked automatic update to Android OS on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

This was because I was quite satisfied with 4.1.2 as it worked fine with all my applications, etc. I am, however, allowing applications to get updated through automatic updates.

Another reason was - during my Google searching, I had found that the next version from 4.1.2 to a higher version caused lot of problems with Note-2 including heavy battery drain & also slowing down the system . While these were fixed for other phones like Galaxy S3 etc., this was never fixed for Note 2 alone.

What would you seniors in this forum would advise me. To update it to 4.4.2 or stay put with my present 4.1.2 (which I am quite happy with). Would I really gain in updating to 4.4.2 without getting any problems with battery over draining, slowing down, etc.

Thanks in advance

I have not found any improvement in functionality. I find the restriction in writing/deleting to the SD card a real pita, although some app writers have found ways to work around it. Verizon doesn't allow permanently blocking the upgrade or I would never have allowed it. Be sure you Google the upgrade so you know what you're getting into.

Hi

I have a note 2 which I rely on for everything. I upgraded to 4.1.2 from 4.1.1 as soon as I could which was a good improvement. Since then I see no reason to upgrade and I subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality for things which are important. If you are happy with it now, my advice would be to leave well alone. Of course, if you love to have the latest and greatest.....(I'll get a new phone when this one dies or I break it)

Yes girolez. I agree 100 percent with you. Thank you for the reply. I shall also keep this very good phone till it dies or I really outgrow this phone offers.

I updated to 4.4.2

I haven't really noticed any degrading in functionality or features. In fact I think it's snappier, and lasts longer (in terms of battery). The restrictions on writing to SD card however, is very dependent on your own usage. I don't encounter it a lot, and hardly ever think about it. If you have apps that need it though, you may just keep the older version. You could get up to 4.3 if you find a stock ROM if you'd like.

Have had my Note2 from new for over 2 years now and still on 4.1.2 with no problems NO WAY am I updating it.Samsung ought to be a shamed of themselves for issuing rubbish updates without fixing them you can bet they DID NOT read any comments about peoples problems, but lets all face it they are only in it for the money and the next model along with it's problems.....a never ending cycle

Thank you casarosa for reassuring on this.

Now this is out of topic. I just noticed that under my name at the left side, I find that I am notified that I am not thanking for any of my replies received. Right from my first post I have been thanking to all those who replied to me.

Is there any icon or such which I have to press for saying "thanks" ?

Thank you again !
