Sorry I just made a new account so reply to this account thanks

Take a look at this XDA thread. The recovery included appears to work with the Slate 8 according to several posts. The procedure requires unlocking the bootloader though, which will wipe all data, so proceed with caution.
Hey thanksfor your speedy reply and yes I know I can do it that way but is there a more easier option like just from my tablet like rom manager or something
Thanks

Here's the standard Android rooting model -

Unlock the bootloader.

Install custom recovery.

Install superuser.

Optionally, on some devices -

Unlock the bootloader.

Boot into an uninstalled custom recovery RUNNING FROM STORAGE ON THE PC IN THE PHONE'S RAM.

Make backup, install superuser.

Verify results, install custom recovery.

You're trying to get out of unlocking the bootloader.

That's where you lose your data.

And the answer to that is to try to backup what you can first with Helium Backup.

The first rule of rooting is to read, read, read, and read some more so than you understand everything before proceeding.

That never changes. Not if you want to avoid bricks.

Flashify will hopefully just fail gracefully, unable to initiate the write to a protected partition - because the bootloader is locked.
