Is there a difference between backing out and pressing home?

As the title says, is there? Pressing the home button once is so much easier.
Also, MIUI has a built in feature; long press the back button to kill the app, but you know task killers, so should I use this feature?

From what I can tell hitting home only puts the app/program in the background rather than actually closing it like backing out does. Thus it's still using battery.

Long pressing back is fine. As are pressing the home button or repeatedly pressing back...

I wouldef get a task manager. It also will make your battery last a little longer

Pressing the Home button suspends the app and puts it in the background, so it's not using battery at all unless it's a program that does background updates like the weather widget, the web browser, etc. But even then the battery use is minimal since the CPU slows down to 200MHz when it's not very active, just like the CPU in your laptop or desktop.

Using the Back button will exit an app, but in most cases using the Home button is just as effective since Android will only maintain 6 or 8 most recently used apps (v2.1 or 2.2). If you want to see your recent apps, just long press the Home button and a list of apps will pop up, then you can tap the app to use it again.

As for task killers, I agree with the others too, they're simply not needed with Android and will use more battery than just letting Android do its own thing.

No, I'm not talking about task killers!
There is a function in MIUI (the ROM I'm using) called "Long-press [the back button] to kill app".
I'm just afraid to use it because of how bad task killers are.
