Is there a good SMS popup app?

So i've removed Go SMS, started to do my nut in. With that though i've lost the popup. Whilst it was good to popup on Go, it would just flash.

So i'm after recommendations for an SMS popup app.

There's about 6-7 on the market. I tried Missed Reminders, it wasn't what i'm after. I wanna see who it's from, the text and have it popup for a defined time, over say the lockscreen so i can reply without unlocking phone etc.

Y'know, I've just had an irrationally bizarre image of someone sniffing an android user's fingers. This has frightened me!

If you can't find it on the above name, look for handcent - there's an optional 'buy in' component to get rid of the ads on the screen (doesn't place ads in your messages) but I've never bothered, just used the free one and it seems fine.
 
I had handcent and it ruined my battery life, i now have the Go sms app its great :)
 
handcent is the best out there by miles. I'm surprised you didn't like it. Give it a second chance, try the customisation and sit with it a week.
 
There was just something with both of them which i didn't like. Can't remember what it was now. Maybe a should, because i've just realised again why i removed Go SMS....it keeps losing the defaults. So after reboots and other occassions it will prompt you which messaging service to choose, tick default, select Go and it will ask you again some other time.
 
SMSpopup, I like it as it is not too bloated and gets the job done.

Only downside is that it cannot change LED colour on the Desire but it's not a biggie
 
So far so good with SMS popup. When you reply, is it me, or was the amount of characters a lot less. I didn't reply with too big of a text, but i nearly ran out of space.

Anyway, running Go SMS, as it seems to have a lot less send fails, with all notifications off. The standard notification has the sound and notification bar set and SMS popup. So with all 3 i get what i want. A little dog-eared, but works for now, until Go move forward or another app does it all.
 
Another vote for SMS popup...

tried all the others but as there is nothing really wrong with the Stock SMS app this just adds the extra popup functionality i want...

It's not that i didn't like it but more that the stock client only lacks popups...adding SMS popup allows me to use the stock client which does have a nice full screen widget i like but with the extra functionality SMS popup gives.

Here here. Have tried, Handscent, chomp and a few others but keep coming back to the stock app with SMS Popup. It just works well. I send a lot of group messages and the stock app deals with them a lot better than the others.

Hi, I'm using Go SMS and SMS Pop Up, or at least I want to. Couldn't find another thread so figured I'd post here and now I'm hoping someone could answer

I'm using Go SMS and it's great, but I'm not very found of the pop up so I decided to use SMS Pop Up, but it won't work. I mean it doesn't notify me, even when I switch GO SMS's notifications off.

Can anybody help? Thanks
