Is There a Way to Dark Theme the OS without Root?

Is there a way to remove (recolor) all the system wide white screens on Android operating system without root. I am using Nexus 4 and 7 devices running paid Nova. For example a white screen flashes before Dolphin opens. The Google Play Store, and Google Docs, Google Now, Chat, Gmail, Stock Dialer, are all examples of lots of bright white. Turning the brightness down low enough washes everything out. In low light environments all the white gets old quick. :shot:

Does anyone know if the L OS has a dark theme or night mode?

Without at least an unlocked bootloader and custom ROM - no.

Many ROMS have CM's built in theme engines - which could apply a darker theme, but there is no functionality like that on the stock ROM.
