is there a way to move all apps to SD?

so i just bought a 32gb micro sd card to take advantage of the size and install big size games and apps. Only to find out that you really cant use it for app installing and have to stick to the virtual sd card inside the phone. I really dont use the phone for music, mostly for photos and home videos, but i just wanted to be sure if there was a way for a rooted phone with MIUI rom to install all the apps i want on the SD card...anyone?

They have to be installed normally, if you then go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and select the application you want you can select move to SD card, if the app has been designed to support it.

thanks man but i knew that already, that is why im asking if there is some kind of tweak or tool for rooted phones to point it to external sd card

No tweaks or tools required, it works as it is but you have to first install to the default device storage. I've just tested it myself to make sure. If you have an external card installed then Move to SD uses it in preference to the internal storage.

(Actually there is a way to set the default install location to the external card but it's strongly not advised as widgets or any apps that have to run during startup won't be available and the system will probably become unstable due a cascade of force-closes)

Yeah i know about the programming to install everything to sd, but going back to what you are saying, on the galaxy s2, there is no way on installing apps on the external SD, everything gets installed either on the internal memory or on the internal SD from the phone.

The only stuff that may get installed on external, are the gameloft games, that can be run from external with an app called GL TO SD, and thats about it.

By default apps are installed on internal (device) memory. If you use Move To SD they are then moved to the external card memory.

As I said I've tested it - I moved everything back to device memory, rebooted the handset, mounted to PC and emptied the .android_secure folders, rebooted again and then moved half-a-dozen games and a few apps to SD. Looking at Settings/Storage shows USB Storage unchanged, Device Memory increased and SD Storage decreased by approx the same amount. Only the .android_secure folder on /external_sd contains files.

So im suppose to find all my apps installed on the .android_secure folder on my external sd? thats where all apps will be?

If you have used the "Move To SD" function with them, that's where they go.

The contents can't be accessed from the handset but if you mount the drive on your PC and open the folder in Windows Explorer (or similar) you'll recognise the app names.

yes i know you cant access from headset, but i once check my sd card and it was 95% empty and i had use the app 2 sd app from market, and i saw all the apps in the phone and the memory was 90% full

got to check again then

ummmm that is the whole idea of the post bro! that is why im asking for special tools, on GS2 it works very different from other phones

Well bro, I've tried to explain that you don't need special tools because the facility is provided with the OS. I've even demonstrated it on my own handset just to make sure I wasn't misleading you with incorrect info. If that's not good enough for you then sorry but I can do no more.

so youre saying i have to mount my external sd first with root explorer or what? sorry about the bro, i was on my ipad and it got on the way...

thanks ill try that, sorry for asking but i just bought a 32gb card, could you point me to a tutorial so i can partition it? so that i can install apps there too. I was fooling around with clockwork recovery options but the max ext size was 4gb. and the rest i didnt understand, and an error came out and didnt let me partitioned it, I want to use the max memory from this card

thanks!
