Help Is there an app for that?

I'm looking for an app that'll make it so when I hold my phone upright it'll default to one keyboard, and when i hold it sideways it'll default to another.... does anyone know if that exists?

I don't know of one, but that would be pretty cool. That might not be possible with the android OS. Try getting the app called TASKER. You can customize endless things with that. I hear it has a learning curve, but you can do tons of detailed customizations, and that sounds like something you may be able to do. TASKER is like that.

Thanks for the tasker idea. Ill be sure to try it and report...
As for rooting, I'm going to try and avoid it till after my phone reaches end of life. So soon after it goes to 2.3

I understand balking at the price if that's all you want to use tasker for, but it does a lot more... here's what I use it for:
-I use it to switch to a low volume profile during work hours
-It turns off notifications at night so text messages don't wake me up
-It switches to vibrate mode while I'm in a meeting
-It turns on wifi when I'm at home and off when I'm not
-I have a play annoying music clip if I send it a specific sms message (in case I misplace my phone)
-I have it text it's location to me in case I lose my phone
