Help Is there an App to stop battery charging when at 100% ?

Is there an App that can detect a full battery charge and essentially disconnect the phone or stop the charging?

Let's say I plug in the phone to charge when I go to sleep and by 2 am it's at 100%. Since it's not optimal to keep the phone plugged in at this point for the next 6 hours, is there an app or other way to pause or stop the charge? An auto-detect of some sort?

Tasker might have something you could set?

A lot of modern batteries will stop accepting charge when they reach 100% anyway. I also know HTC handsets have it hard coded into the kernel by default to report they're at 100% when the charge is actually slightly lower (95%) so Samsung might have something similar?

Over the life of the handset though, it won't actually do the battery that much damage so there's no real harm in leaving it overnight. It's actually worse for it to drain completely.
 
Interesting. That would be great, but do we know for sure? I suppose once it's fully charged the bolt will disappear and we can assume that there's no juice going to the battery?
 
If you want to measure what charge the battery is drawing when plugged in, place currentwidget on one of your homescreens, that will display in mAh what the battery is doing. When it says 0mAh, it's properly, fully charged. If it gets to 100% and it has a value greater than 0, then it has the overcharge protection.
 
Lightflow is a great tool for knowing your battery status without turning the screenon.

You can set it to flash (any color and speed) when it his X% (20/15/10) and to flash another color when it hits 90/95/100%.

This way you can glance at thephone and know its charged.
 
Phones have had built in technology to allow you to leave them on the charger while fully charged without causing any harm for years now. It is not something to spend a single second worrying about nowadays.

It should trickle charge, so once it reaches 100% it won't keep charging.
 
I have an S4. My charger does not stop charging at 100% nor will my phone stop it from over charging. My battery has swelled before and I have had to replace it.

It would be incredible if there were an app for this.

But to repeat it does over charge!

That's a hardware problem that should be replaced under warranty.
 
Battery - The charging current is controlled by the charging circuit in the phone and determines how fast it charges and how hot it gets. The battery will not stop accepting current when fully charged, that is up to the charger.
Charger - If the charging current is not reduced to a trickle when the battery is fully charged the battery and AC charging transformer/supply will continue to remain hot. When the charger is operating properly ,the phone and the AC charging supply will cool down. That is a good indicator that the charging circuit is working correctly. If that doesn't happen the charger circuit in the phone or the AC charging supply is bad and the battery can be damaged by continuing to charge after fully charged. The battery will not be damaged during the overnight trickle charge. The phone should not be left on the charger for days on end.
 
My GNex stops charging at 100%. I usually find it a few percent down and not charging when I wake up.
 
No battery stop charging when plugged, or your phone would not be at 100% anymore when you unplug it.

But chargers can stop charging, as evidence most powerbanks stop charging when the battery is 100%

Do you know any application to simulate a NEVER FULL BATTERY ? Because i would like my phone to use the powerbank battery until the powerbank is empty, then use the phone battery until its empty also.

How to du this ? Simulate neverfull battery ?
 
Does sony z ultra and the charger itself has a auto stop feature when the battery reach 100 percent. Need your help, am confuse also regarding this matter. I left my phone overnight for charging.
 
The battery can't charge past 100% so it's fair to assume it won't.

As long as you don't let your battery drain completely on a regular basis, you can charge as often as you like.
 
When I woke in the morning its 100 percent. BTW I read somewhere about the trickle charging that battery nowadays have. I watch in youtube that even its 100. Its fake company software thing. I want to be enlightened about this. Thanks for the help if anyone answer.
 
I have a perfect solution for that. I created a device that let your charger plug in there and start charging when battery low at 15% and stop charging when fully charged at 100%
 
Hey! I have a one plus 2, and I always keep my phone to charge at night, I'm afraid that if I over charge it, will it cause any harm to the phone or the battery life?. Whatever it will be please let me know.

I have bought a Motorola Moto X Play 5 days back. I have noticed that the lightning bolt of charging doesn't disappear after 100%. I have kept it on charging overnight and in the morning I saw that the lightning bolt is still there ! Please help ! Is my phone piece defective ?
 
I have a LG phone for over a year and many times I have plugged in to recharge the battery and when I wake up, I pull the charger. Last year, I brought a Anker PowerPort 2 charger with two USB outputs and a Anker USB long cable and my phone charge to 100 % in less than 2 hrs. It doesn't hurt the phone battery. I use Anker cable products because it carries a higher amps than most of the USB cables out there.
