Help Is there an app which completely mutes the phone?

As there is no mute button on the side is there a mute button app which stops all noise. As I like playing games on the train but don't want noise. I don't want to break my volume rocker having to keep turning it up and down.
 
AudioManager or Extended Controls are what your after the former with a cracking dedicated widget which is skin'able..
 
Have a look at Tasker. I've become a bit of a fanboi (that DOESN'T mean I'm a Tasker guru, BTW :) ) because just about anytime I want to streamline a series of steps into one button push, I can make a shortcut with Tasker. Even though it costs a little bit, it's more than worth it IMO.

In your case it would be fairly easy to creat a button on your home screen (or wherever) to set the volume to whatever level, or even maybe have starting the game itself automatically invoke a volume decrease.
