Is there any Android Apps that i can get from the market to help deal with the battery life and data useage. I kept my phone on over night to see how much battery or data it uses. And it turns out that in an 8 hour 30 min period the battery drains about 10 percent and uses about 2.5 data. Is there anyway to get an app to deal with this. Such as close apps and make the phone use the battery more efficiently.

For battery usage try juice defender a lot of people use that.
As for apps, the only thing I would recommend is to get watchdog lite. This will monitor apps and alert you to anything running crazy on your phone.and then give you the option to kill that app. But I wouldn't suggest using the task killer as that could cause more problems.
The data you are seeing might be anything you have on auto sync like facebook emails news weather. Best bet would be to set those to manual sync so that they don't use data unless you open them and hit refresh to update
